Major activities
Drafting -Drawing and SLD development. BOQ estimations
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings for EHV substations up to 400 kV/765kV based on engineering inputs.
- Prepare and modify AIS/GIS substation, switchyard, bay, equipment layout and sectional/elevation drawings.
- Prepare and update SLDs, protection & control schematics, interconnection and related electrical drawings.
- Prepare earthing, lightning protection, cable trench, cable routing and cable tray drawings.
- Ensure drawings are accurately coordinated with equipment GA, dimensions, clearances and engineering requirements.
- Incorporate engineering, client, consultant and site comments and maintain drawing revisions and document control.
- Prepare revised and As-Built drawings based on approved site mark-ups and field changes.
- Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Structural, and other engineering disciplines.
- Carry out self-checking to ensure accuracy of dimensions, equipment tags, references and drawing details.
- Prepare and submit drawings in line with approved engineering schedules and support timely drawing approvals.
- Provide pre-bid engineering support by preparing SLDs, preliminary substation layouts and major equipment Bill of Materials (BoM) based on tender requirements.
- Superimpose site boundaries and other relevant KMZ information on AutoCAD layouts for engineering and site assessment.
Technical Innovation & Developing Solutions
- Identify areas for potential design issues and process improvement within the engineering team and across the organization.
Business Planning & BudgetForecasting
- Providing inputs for budgeting for Technical Services in accordance with Business plan on need basis
Developing self and others
- Stay up to date with the latest Autodesk software tools and features, leveraging them to enhance draft efficiency and quality.
- Meeting with engineering consultants and EPCs
Interfacing and collaborating
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and translate them into visual representations. Communicate effectively to ensure that the drawings meet design intent.

- SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Educational Qualifications:
Functional Skills:
- Basic understanding of AIS/GIS substation arrangements and electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with transformers, reactors, CTs, CVTs, PTs, circuit breakers, isolators, surge arresters, busbars and gantries. Understanding of bay arrangements and equipment interconnections.
- Strong command of AutoCAD for preparing 2D electrical drawings (layouts, SLDs, cable routing, etc.) Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical / other CAD tools. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting and editing commands, & other tools, with ability to develop accurate and standardized EHV substation drawings.
- Ability to interpret SLDs, equipment GA drawings, technical specifications, cable schedules and engineering layouts. Ability to understand engineering mark-ups and convert them into accurate drawings
- Knowledge of electrical symbols, drawing conventions, dimensions, annotations and cross-referencing.
- Ability to maintain revision history and drawing status.
- Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to interact with engineers, consultants, EPC contractors, vendors and site teams. Ability to coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Structural, Protection & Control and other disciplines.
- High accuracy in dimensions, equipment tags, references, annotations and drawing details.
- Familiarity with electrical clearances, equipment arrangement, cable routing and earthing concepts.
- Exposure to 3D CAD/BIM tools will be an added advantage.
- Experience with document management systems will be preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft World, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power point, Microsoft office 365.
Relevant and total years of Experience:
Educational Background: ITI /Diploma
Industry Experience:
- Total Experience: Typically, 3–8 years in electrical drafting/design in the power transmission, substation, EPC or infrastructure sector.
- Relevant Experience: Minimum 2–5 years in electrical substation drafting, preferably AIS/GIS substations of 220 kV, 400 kV/765 kV.
