Education: UG - Any Graduate - Any Specialization. Excellent interpersonal written and verbal skills in English. Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner.
The Job
Work within a corporate information technology operations organization as a Unix administrator maintaining and updating P9 environment as per standards. Administering the environment to meet the day-to-day demand in an efficient cost-effective manner. Support projects as required to meet IT objectives while managing available time based on priorities. Provide reports and metrics as needed to support operations requirements analysis and growth planning. Should possess good experience in a mid-to-large environment of Virtualization/ AWS / AIX / P9 experience including host build and guest deployment/management.
Required Skills:
Highly Technical Skilled in AIX Administration on P9 Linux Administration & building of new systems. Upgradation from Linux 7 to Linux 8. Installing and upgrading UNIX system software on company servers and computers. Automation of patching & regular maintenance tasks. Frame hardware support. Vio upgrades maintenance. HMC Management. Creating UNIX file systems. Setting up and maintaining UNIX user accounts and access management systems. Implementing network and computer system policies. Detecting and troubleshooting software and hardware issues. Responding to user requests and software errors. Monitoring the performance of the system and server. Creating backup and recovery policies. Setting up and monitoring security policies. Applying patches and upgrades when necessary. Management of Centralized user through AD authentication. Knowledge of networking principles including routing, subnets, TCP, IP, VLANs, and UDP. In-depth knowledge of computer hardware systems including circuit boards, memory modules, and processors. Vulnerability Remediation for Unix systems. Configure ethernet link aggregation, configure virtual SCSI devices, load a CD image to install new AIX. CACF tool access & process. AIX Performance monitoring & troubleshooting. Snapshots & Restores.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with AIX/Linux/P9.
- Experience of working with EC2 instances AWS.
- Server Hardware: Hands on exp. with Server Hardware for vendors AIX & Linux.
- Understanding of Vio concepts and working.
- HMC Management & reporting.
- Incident management - System failure analysis and recovery; insuring system consistency.
- Proactively managing the environment to prevent incidents from occurring.
- Problem management - Determine root cause and drive issues to resolution.
- Vastool – User management through AD process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction.
- Conduct training sessions for staff.
- Experience with Ansible for automation.
- Implementation of standard security protocols for Unix systems.
Good to have:
- Experience with Storage services.
- Basic understanding of Oracle Database.
- Familiarity with AWS handling.
