This role is for one of Weekday’s clients
Min Experience: 5+ years
Location: India
JobType: full-time
- We are seeking an experienced SAP PP Functional Consultant to design, configure, implement, and maintain our SAP Production Planning module. In this role, you will act as the crucial link between business manufacturing operations and the IT engineering team. You will be responsible for requirement-gathering workshops, map complex shop floor business processes to SAP standard practices, and configure solutions that optimize our production lifecycle.
- The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing domain experience and a deep understanding
- of how SAP PP integrates with logistics, finance, and quality management modules.
Requirements
Roles & Responsibilities
- PROCESS BLUEPRINTING: Facilitate workshops with plant managers and supply chain teams to gather requirements, analyze "As-Is" processes, and map them to efficient "To-Be" SAP architectures.
- SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Perform hands-on configuration of the SAP PP module to meet business requirements, specifically focusing on Master Data, MRP, and Shop Floor Execution.
- FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS: Author detailed functional specification documents (FSDs) for custom enhancements, custom reports, and third-party interfaces, collaborating closely with ABAP technical developers.
- CROSS-MODULE INTEGRATION: Collaborate with consultants across MM, SD, QM, and FICO modules to ensure smooth, end-to-end data flow and cross-functional logic alignment.
- TESTING & QUALITY ASSURANCE: Design test scripts and execute Unit Testing, Integration Testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate custom builds and standard processes.
- TRAINING & HYPERCARE SUPPORT: Develop end-user training manuals, conduct training sessions, and provide post-go-live hypercare and troubleshooting support.
To succeed in this role, the candidate must demonstrate a balanced proficiency across core technical configuration, integration, and soft business skills.
CORE SAP PP TECHNICAL CONFIGURATION
This is the foundational skill set required to manipulate the SAP environment to support production operations.
- MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT: Deep expertise setting up and troubleshooting Material Master records, Bill of Materials (BOMs), Work Centers, and Routings/Recipe management.
- PLANNING FRAMEWORKS: Expert configuration of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) variants, consumption-based planning, and Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP).
- MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENTS: Extensive experience setting up Discrete Manufacturing (Production Orders) and/or Process Manufacturing (Process Orders/PI sheets), as well as Repetitive Manufacturing frameworks.
- CAPACITY PLANNING: Ability to configure and execute Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) and capacity leveling to handle shop-floor constraints.
INTEGRATION & S/4HANA ECOSYSTEM
An SAP system is only as strong as its connections. The consultant must understand how data bridges across the environment.
- MODULE INTEGRATION: Clear knowledge of touch points between PP and:
- SAP MM (Materials Management): Goods issues, receipts, and inventory tracking.
- SAP CO (Controlling): Product costing, work center cost centers, and variance reporting.
- SAP QM (Quality Management): In-process inspections and quality clearance gates.
- S/4HANA Modernization: Experience navigating the simplified data models of S/4HANA, MRP Live, and utilizing Fiori-based apps for modern production reporting.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS & FUNCTIONAL DESIGN
- REQUIREMENT TRANSLATION: The ability to convert complex shop floor problems into standard SAP capabilities without over-customizing.
- TECHNICAL LIAISON (ABAP FAMILIARITY): While coding isn't required, the consultant must be able to debug code patterns slightly, write pristine Functional Specifications, and guide developers using standard User Exits or BAdIs.
SOFT SKILLS & PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES
- STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT: Comfortable interacting with shop-floor operators up to plant directors and executive leadership.
- PROBLEM-SOLVING: Strong analytical mindset to quickly diagnose why a specific production order is failing or why MRP threw an expected exception error.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Computer Science, or business-related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of dedicated hands-on SAP PP functional consulting experience.
- Lifecycles: Participation in at least one Full Life Cycle (FLC) end-to-end implementation or migration project (S/4HANA experience preferred).
- Domain: Prior background working directly in a manufacturing or logistics industry domain is highly desirable.
- Certification: Official SAP Certification in Production Planning is a strong plus.
