Serve as an air-cargo product consultant bridging business and technology: engage airline customers, run demos and gap analyses, support pre-sales, lead functional implementation activities, advise on IATA standards and best practices, drive product enhancements, prepare functional documentation, and build stakeholder relationships.
Job Description: Product Consultant – Air Cargo
Role: Product Consultant – Air Cargo
Location: [Trivandrum / Kochi]
Experience: 5–10 years
Employment Type: Full-time
Travel Required :Yes
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Product Consultant with strong air cargo domain expertise to work closely with airline cargo customers across the solution lifecycle — from pre-sales and solutioning through implementation, adoption, and ongoing engagement. The role bridges business and technology: you will translate customer cargo operations and commercial requirements into product capabilities, drive fitment discussions, and guide clients toward best-practice adoption of the product.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with airline cargo customers to understand business processes, operational pain points, and strategic objectives across sales, capacity, operations, revenue accounting, and mail/ULD management.
- Conduct product demonstrations, workshops, and gap-fit analyses; map customer requirements to product functionality and identify configuration vs. customization needs.
- Support pre-sales activities including RFP/RFI responses, solution proposals, effort estimation inputs, and executive presentations.
- Act as the functional/domain lead during implementations — requirement validation, solution design reviews, UAT support, cutover readiness, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Advise customers on industry best practices, IATA standards and initiatives (e.g., ONE Record, e-AWB, Cargo iQ milestones, DGR compliance), and process re-engineering opportunities.
- Work with product management and engineering teams to channel customer feedback, define enhancement requests, and contribute to the product roadmap.
- Prepare functional specifications, business process documents, training material, and customer-facing collateral.
- Build trusted-advisor relationships with customer stakeholders from operational users up to senior leadership.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in the air cargo domain — with an airline, GSA, GHA, freight forwarder, or a cargo IT solutions provider.
- Strong working knowledge of end-to-end air cargo processes: booking and reservations, capacity and flight planning, rating and pricing, AWB lifecycle, acceptance, manifesting, ULD management, warehouse/hub operations, irregularity handling, and cargo revenue accounting.
- Familiarity with IATA cargo standards, messaging (FWB, FHL, FSU, XFWB/XFZB), e-freight initiatives, and regulatory/security requirements.
- Proven experience in a consulting, business analysis, solution engineering, or product SME role for enterprise software.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both operational teams and CXO-level stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to customer locations as required.
Preferred / Added Advantage
- Hands-on knowledge of IBS Software’s iCargo platform — functional configuration, module knowledge (Sales & Reservations, Operations, Mail, ULD, Revenue Accounting, Rating), or prior iCargo implementation/support experience will be a strong added advantage.
- Experience with other cargo management systems (e.g., CHAMP Cargospot, SmartKargo, Unisys/Kale) and understanding of migration or transformation programs.
- Exposure to cloud-hosted enterprise deployments, integrations (APIs, messaging middleware), and data migration activities.
- Certifications such as IATA cargo diplomas, customs knowledge, or business analysis certifications (CBAP, PMI-PBA).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics, or a related field. MBA or equivalent is a plus.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work with leading global airlines on mission-critical cargo transformation programs.
- Exposure to the full product lifecycle — pre-sales through delivery and customer success.
- A collaborative environment with deep domain and product expertise.
