Engineering & Design Management
Modularization Strategy: Define the Modularization Drivers, conduct Risk Analysis, and establish the Modularization Studies and Design Basis (accountable department).
Design Control: Oversee the Modular Engineering Weight and Envelope Control.
Design Review: Lead the 3D Modular Model Review process and ensure follow-up on meeting actions.
Key Design Outputs: Accountable for the Modular Plot Plan and Installation Sequence definition.
Loose Items: Define the Criteria and Identification for the LIP (Loose Item Package).
2. Cross-Functional Coordination & Procedures
Project Integration: Act as the central coordinating element ("glueing element") between Engineering, Procurement, Subcontracting, Fabrication, and Construction, dictating the necessary timing and elements for successful Modularization.
Construction & Commissioning Coordination: Establish the coordination procedure and methodology with Construction and Commissioning teams to ensure their requirements are conveniently reflected in the modules during the Engineering phase.
Change Management: Establish and jointly apply the change management procedure for design changes with the Engineering Manager.
Yard Alignment: Verify that the Yard module construction strategy, module lay-out, and pre-assembly philosophy are aligned with the engineering conceptual phase.
3. Construction, Logistics, and Site Installation
Scheduling: Drive the schedules for Module Engineering, transport, construction, and installation.
Weight Control:
Ensure necessary Yard Weight Control Reports are in place.
Check for any deviation from the Engineering Weight Control Report.
Approve module physical Weight Reports and manage critical deviations from expected values.
Transport and Shipping:
Coordinate the revision and status of Modular Transport Drawings.
Define the transport and installation configuration for all module manoeuvres (including Vessels, Columns, tanks, etc.).
Ensure preservation and preparatory works for module shipping activities are completed.
Coordinate the revision and finalization of the Transport (Marine and Land) and Installation strategy based on the latest Engineering Data.
Verify the update and provision of all required technical information (Packing Lists, Transport Drawings, Weight Control Reports, Definition of auxiliary elements, etc.).
Subcontractor & Clash Management:
Coordinate the review of final Method Statements and drawings provided by HL and HT Subcontractors.
Coordinate with the Logistic Manager to verify actual module sizes against the transportation envelope, identifying elements for removal to avoid potential clashes or interference during transport and installation.
Certification: Coordinate with the Logistic department regarding Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) inspections and the issuance of Sail Away Certification, if required.
Site Support:
Verify that the Site installation plan and module delivery sequence align with the plan defined during the engineering phase.
Assist the Construction Team in any technical issue related to modules.
Assist the Site Construction Team in defining all required buffer zones, lay down areas, and modules preparatory works.
4. Reporting and Continuous Improvement
Reporting: reports hierarchically to the Global Modularization Director and functionally to the Project he is assigned to.
Lessons Learned: Keep a log of lessons learned to be shared with the Modularization Department and applied in the next project.
