Our Consulting Delivery Hub (CDH) in India is a critical part of ERM’s global consulting model enabling scalable, high-quality delivery across regions and service lines. CDH teams work in close partnership with regional consultants to support global client projects, providing specialist expertise, driving consistency, and enhancing delivery efficiency across our most important programmes.

As part of the Consulting Delivery Hub, you will collaborate with colleagues worldwide, contribute to complex sustainability projects, and play a key role in shaping the future of global consulting delivery.

Why this role matters?

As a Managing Consultant - GIS Specialist, you will provide technical leadership and innovation in geospatial services across environmental and sustainability projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned Geospatial professional who combines deep technical expertise with mentoring, client engagement, and strategic thinking. You will lead complex projects, develop junior talent, and contribute to ERM’s reputation for technical excellence.

What will you bring?

  • Strong command on fundamentals of Geospatial technology and techniques, advance geo analytics and integrated spatial data collection, geoprocessing, management and visualization skills.

  • Excellent command and solution development experience using industry standard geospatial software and technologies.

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, using interdisciplinary perspectives on how to use spatial data to solve environmental studies challenges.

Essential qualifications, skills & competencies

  • Master’s degree in Geoinformatics, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Geospatial or environmental consulting. Expertise and implement solutions using the ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, develop custom tools, add-inns and scripts to automate GIS workflows using ArcPy and other APIs, Field Survey and mobile applications such as Survey 123, Field Maps and experience with AutoCAD Map and Civil 3D is a plus.

  • Knowledge of GIS Application Development using programming languages and framework such as Python, JavaScript, .NET, C#.

  • Experience in spatial data management, spatial queries and analysis – design, create and management of geodatabases and other spatial data stores ensuring data integrity, quality and performance Knowledge of developing and optimising spatial queries using SQL and other spatial queries using SQL and other spatial query languages.

  • Practical experience in building and integrating web mapping and APIs to facilitate data access and sharing. Experience with frameworks like ArcGIS Javascript API, Leaflet etc.

  • Knowledge and experience on GeoAI applications, especially ESRI’s pretrained models and the AI model training process for tailored solutions and needs.

  • Strong skills in geoprocessing, spatial statistics, projections/coordinate systems, symbology, labelling, and data visualization and publication‑quality cartography for regulatory submittals and client presentations.

  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver high-quality, client-focused solutions.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred skills & competencies

  • Remote Sensing and Digital Image processing.

  • Advanced geospatial modelling and cloud computing and spatial analysis using GEE.

  • Familiarity with the permitting process for capital projects and associated geospatial data requirements.

  • Participation in technical communities and thought leadership activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and risks.

Key responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of large-scale GIS projects across capital project delivery, site investigation, remediation, and due diligence.

  • Provide advanced geospatial analysis and mapping, including remote sensing, permitting related tabular impacts and summaries, site-selection, routing, and Web GIS Application Development.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise GIS systems, including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, and SQL geodatabases.

  • Author and maintain Python and ModelBuilder tools for geoprocessing automation and building and integrating web mapping and APIs.

  • Lead the deployment of mobile data collection systems (Survey123, Field Maps, Trimble GPS).

  • Ensure technical quality and innovation in deliverables, applying structured thinking and effective communication.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted technical expert to project stakeholders and delivering impactful solutions.

  • Support proposal development, technical presentations, and strategic project planning.

  • Identify opportunities to evolve GIS services in alignment with client needs and sustainability goals.

Team & People Development

  • Mentor and coach junior GIS staff, fostering technical growth and inclusive collaboration.

  • Lead or influence a team of 2–4 GIS professionals, providing guidance and feedback.

  • Actively participate in technical communities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Business Contribution

  • Promote ERM’s technical excellence through participation in conferences, publications, and client events.

  • Drive innovation in GIS workflows, tools, and service offerings.

  • Apply commercial acumen to support project budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
