About the Role

The Manager Network Operations has responsibility for ensuring the day-to-day operation of the airline is conducted in the most efficient manner, whilst ensuring safety and compliance are not compromised.

The role provides guidance to the Operations Control Centre team and other stakeholders to ensure operational and commercial interests are balanced and appropriate plans are implemented, especially during times of flight and roster disruption.

The role requires flexibility, additional hours and on-call availability.

Key Responsibilities

Management and Coordination of the Daily Flying Operation

  • Ensure optimised resource allocation of aircraft and aircrew to flying operations; Monitor network-wide facilities/environment and situation for operational risk and impact;

Communication

  • Liaise with all operational departments regarding operational matters as required for normal and abnormal operations;

  • Ensure senior management and relevant areas are updated as required on operational situations;

Disruption Management

  • Ensure all implemented plans best meet safety, company and regulatory compliance requirements with minimal impact on customers;

  • Minimise lost revenue, cost, brand impact and negative media during times of disruption;

  • Investigate root cause and contributing factors of delay and disruption, identifying trends where applicable;

  • Liaison with Maintenance Planning & Engineering on technical issues and changes to the maintenance plan;

  • Ensure OCC team are notifying crew of roster changes;

  • Liaison with suppliers and agents as required;

  • Updating relevant company systems are updated with accurate information in a timely manner, considering the needs of all direct and indirect users of information;

  • Organise cross-hire and charter aircraft as required;

  • Assist OCC staff to handle flight and roster disruption, considering possible recovery options and cost control;

Compliance

  • Develop, implement & maintain Policies & Procedures pertaining to Network Operations;

  • Assess, identify, communicate and mitigate departmental risks and hazards;

  • Process AIRS reports

Emergency Assessment and Response

  • Identify and correctly assess threats and situations in a timely manner, including initiation of, and participation in, the corporate Emergency Response Plan until handover to the crisis management team.

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Allocate and coordinate duties of the team including rosters and leave planning; Ensure a continual high quality output from the team with regards to standards, procedures and compliance;

  • Develop and facilitate initial and ongoing training plans for staff;

  • Set goals and targets for staff;

  • Provide timely feedback to departmental staff;

  • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed in the required time frame including timesheet and payroll reporting submission.

Reporting

  • Provide timely and accurate reports in accordance with company and management requirements;

  • Check and submit/approve Business Cases, Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Invoices etc. pertaining to department.

Training & Employee Development

  • Participate in, on an annual basis, employee performance appraisals including assess, discuss and ensure approved trainers facilitate staff training requirements.

Safety Management

  • Assess, identify, communicate and manage departmental hazards or health and safety issues;

  • Actively participate in the Airnorth Safety Management System;

  • Act as an investigator, as required, for AIRS reports;

  • Consult with the Chief Operating Officer on Operations and Network specific safety and work health matters.
