The GIS Specialist will design and oversee GIS projects, provide advanced geospatial analysis, mentor junior staff, and support client engagement through impactful solutions and strategic project planning.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of large-scale GIS projects across site investigation, remediation, capital project delivery, and due diligence.
- Provide advanced geospatial analysis and mapping, including potentiometric surfaces, groundwater plume modeling, geological cross-sections, historical imagery comparisons, and impacted area delineation.
- Develop and maintain enterprise GIS systems, including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, and SQL geodatabases.
- Author and maintain Python and ModelBuilder tools for geoprocessing automation.
- Lead the deployment of mobile data collection systems (Survey123, Field Maps, Trimble GPS).
- Ensure technical quality and innovation in deliverables, applying structured thinking and effective communication.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, delivering impactful solutions that exceed expectations.
- Support proposal development, client presentations, and strategic project planning.
- Identify opportunities to evolve GIS services in alignment with client needs and sustainability goals.
- Mentor and coach junior GIS staff, fostering technical growth and inclusive collaboration.
- Lead or influence a team of 2–4 GIS professionals, providing guidance and feedback.
- Actively participate in technical communities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Promote ERM’s technical excellence through participation in conferences, publications, and client events.
- Drive innovation in GIS workflows, tools, and service offerings.
- Apply commercial acumen to support project budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- 4–5 years of experience in GIS and environmental consulting.
- Advanced proficiency in Esri’s ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Experience with AutoCAD Map/Civil 3D and GNSS data processing tools (e.g., GPS Pathfinder Office, Pix4D).
- Strong skills in geodatabase design, spatial analysis, symbology, labeling, and data visualization.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver high-quality, client-focused solutions.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience developing custom Python tools and Arcade expressions.
- Familiarity with ERM’s digital tools and project delivery processes.
- Participation in technical communities and thought leadership activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and risks.
