Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an Electrical Design Team Lead Europe at ABB IEC LV Motors Division in Vaasa or Aleksandrow Lodzki.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and coaching the electrical design team while also acting as the process developer and process owner. You will lead electrical design team who maintains and develops existing and new products and technologies in R&D department. Your task is to secure electrical design capacity and competence for efficient, timely and qualitative project and task execution.

***This role will be based in Finland (Vaasa) or Poland (Aleksandrow Lodzki)***

Key responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Lead the electrical design team, ensuring capacity, competence, and motivation for efficient and high-quality execution of projects and tasks.

  • Process Ownership: Own and continuously improve the electrical design processes, tools, and methodologies to support product development and lifecycle management.

  • Competence Development: Secure people allocation and development using internal and external experts to meet current and future needs.

  • Tool Development: Ensure high-quality usage and development of electrical design tools and software together with engineering tools team.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other R&D locations, operations, and stakeholders to align design and process strategies.

  • Market Intelligence: Collect and analyse market information and process data to inform design and process improvements.

  • Documentation & Standards: Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications for the role:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Several years of experience in electrical design and process development.

  • A proactive, systematic, and collaborative approach to work.

  • Proven leadership and coaching skills.

  • Continuous improvement mindset combined with Lean and Agile way of working

  • Experience with insulation systems, magnetic materials, and motor technologies is a plus.

  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as Teamcenter, SAP, CAD, and motor design platforms.

  • Fluent English and either Finnish or Polish (depending on the location) is a must.
