Managing Consultant, Data Engineer

Our Consulting Delivery Hub (CDH) in India is a critical part of ERM’s global consulting model enabling scalable, high-quality delivery across regions and service lines. CDH teams work in close partnership with regional consultants to support global client projects, providing specialist expertise, driving consistency, and enhancing delivery efficiency across our most important programmes.

Why this role matters?

As a Data Engineer & Application Developer, you will support ERM's global consulting delivery by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data platforms, modern web applications, and cloud-based solutions that enable data-driven decision-making and digital transformation. You will work within the Data Analytics & Visualization (DAV) service line, partnering with regional project teams, technical specialists, and business stakeholders across global offices to build robust data pipelines, enterprise applications, dashboards, and digital platforms that support environmental, sustainability, and business transformation initiatives.

This role is critical to enabling scalable data management, accelerating application delivery, improving data accessibility and quality, and supporting the development of cloud-native digital solutions across ERM's global portfolio.

What your impact is?

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data integration solutions using modern data engineering practices.

• Build and maintain web-based applications, portals, and digital solutions using ReactJS and related frontend technologies.

• Develop backend services, APIs, and data services to support enterprise applications and business workflows.

• Design and optimize databases, data models, and storage solutions for structured and unstructured data.

• Implement cloud-based data and application solutions using Azure, AWS, Microsoft Fabric, and related technologies.

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions.

• Support application deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement using DevOps and CI/CD best practices.

• Develop reusable frameworks, components, and standards to improve delivery consistency and efficiency.

• Ensure data quality, security, performance, and governance requirements are incorporated into all solutions.

• Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentorship to team members to support capability development and delivery excellence.

What will you bring?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.

• 8-12 years of experience in Data Engineering, Application Development, Software Engineering, or related fields.

• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and data engineering concepts.

• Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration solutions.

• Strong experience in modern web application development using ReactJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and integrating enterprise systems.

• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar platforms.

• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, Microsoft Fabric, or similar ecosystems.

• Understanding of software engineering best practices, DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery methodologies.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative leadership skills.

Preferred qualifications, skills & competencies

• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Fabric, Snowflake, or similar data platforms.

• Experience building cloud-native applications and microservices architectures.

• Experience with Node.js, .NET, FastAPI, Flask, or similar backend development frameworks.

• Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience implementing data governance, data quality, and master data management practices.

• Experience developing enterprise dashboards using Power BI or similar visualization platforms.

• Exposure to environmental, sustainability, ESG, GIS, EHS, or asset management datasets is considered advantageous.

• Experience mentoring junior developers or data engineers and supporting capability development initiatives.

• Collaborate with project teams to identify automation and digital transformation opportunities and convert requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Prepare technical documentation, testing records, architecture diagrams, user guides, and implementation artifacts.

• Contribute to team capability building through mentorship, knowledge sharing, technical reviews, and continuous learning initiatives.
