Invoice Home Employee Perspectives

Describe Invoice Home’s company culture in one word.

“Supportive” describes our team’s collaborative work style. With the startup-structured environment, we all find a place in each project to develop our own skills and create the most successful outcome.

Recently, we ran into an issue with our customer support requests being sent to our spam folders, causing over 800 emails to go unanswered. Without hesitation, all teams hopped on the project even if it was not considered a responsibility under their job title. We were able to get the issue resolved in just a day, when the customer support team could have been working on this issue for more than a week.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

I have been with Invoice Home for just under two years now. Originally, I was hired as a marketing specialist. With the growth of customers came the demand for internal growth, as well.

When I took on recruitment projects, I had the freedom to do whatever I could to get these positions filled — legally, of course — which allowed me to research and find the best process for our team and company. Through lots of research and trial and error, I created a recruitment process and onboarding and training program for the Austin office. I have done a lot of legal research to make sure we are doing everything by the book along with building relationships and honing in on my communication skills. This company and team has really allowed me to grow not only professionally but personally as a self-starter.

Tell us about Invoice Home’s approach to the in-office experience. How are these elements emblematic of your team culture?

Invoice Home makes the in-office experience very comfortable. Our office does a good job of providing us with the exact snacks and drinks we want, and anything we need for our desks. The company also provides benefits that no longer exist at other companies such as paid parking, great healthcare and brand new devices on your first day at work, just to name a few. “Ask and you shall receive” is Invoice Home’s in-office vibe.

In your opinion, what about your in-office experience feels the most impactful on your daily work life? What is your favorite part of the in-person experience?

At Invoice Home, we have actual work-life balance. We work from 9:00am to 5:00pm, with an hour lunch. This is unheard of at any other company I’ve worked with. I was used to working 80-hour weeks with no lunch. My mental health and happiness have greatly improved since working here.

Is there anything you're looking forward to with the in-office experience?

I am looking forward to the new state-of-the-art office we are expecting to move into Spring 2025. It will include everything an employee would want in a new space, from high-end interior design, a kitchen/bar, playroom, meditation room, gardens and a moss wall — not to mention the stunning views.

Give us a snapshot of your performance review process. How often do they occur? Who is involved in the process?
Performance reviews are conducted semiannually. Employees are responsible for setting at least three personal goals each quarter, which are then discussed during the performance review. During the review, our CEO will ask us about the status of our goals, if we had any challenges while completing them and what we plan on working on in the future. Additionally, he asks for our honest feedback on the company as a whole.

How does your performance review process ladder up to your organization’s culture and/or mission?
Our performance reviews align seamlessly with the company culture, feeling less like a chore and more like a casual chat with our CEO. They prioritize friendly conversation over rigid evaluations.

What kinds of positive results do you see from your performance review process?
I thrive on feedback from colleagues at all levels, especially from our CEO. Direct feedback from him is invaluable, enabling me to adjust my course or confirm I’m on the right track. A significant bonus of these performance reviews has been consistent wage increases, which greatly benefit my personal life and boost my motivation. I also appreciate the personal conversations with our CEO. His willingness to dedicate time to individual meetings, despite his demanding schedule, demonstrates his genuine care for the team and our well-being, which is incredibly motivating.
