Overview

The Communications Intern will work closely with the Outreach team at CEEW to conceptualise, plan, and produce high-quality audio-visual storytelling products that bring the organisation’s research and impact to life. The intern will be actively involved across all stages of the production process—from research and ideation, to pre-production coordination, to on-ground support during shoots, and finally, assisting with post-production and dissemination. This position offers an opportunity to develop hands-on skills in visual storytelling, production management, and collaborative content creation, while contributing to meaningful work at the intersection of sustainability and public communications.


Responsibilities


1. Research & reference gathering
  • Conduct thematic and contextual research relevant to upcoming video projects (e.g., subject matter, tone, similar formats).

  • Assist in compiling moodboards, and reference decks for team review.

2. Script ideation & development
  • Participate in ideation sessions to brainstorm storylines, visual styles, and treatment approaches.

3. Pre-production & coordination
  • Assist with logistical and creative planning in the lead-up to shoots

  • Manage internal coordination and scheduling with CEEW teams, contributors, and vendors for filming requirements.

  • Help organise and maintain production folders, documents, and asset inventories.

4. Recce, shoot & travel support

  • Accompany the core film team on need-based travel for location recces and/or shoots.

  • Help manage basic on-ground logistics— permissions, consent forms, etc.

  • Take behind-the-scenes photos, short video logs, or notes for documentation and archival.

5. Project management & documentation
  • Keep internal trackers updated for production timelines, status updates, and task progress.

  • Organise and archive footage, reference files, and final cuts as per internal standards.

  • Provide production assistance during shoot/edit reviews, rough-cut screenings, etc.

Selection Criteria
Desired Skills 
  • Demonstrated delivery of visual storytelling, media production, and/or sustainability narrative projects.

  • Basic understanding of video formats, scripting, and film grammar is a plus.

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and enthusiastic about collaborative work.

  • Open to travel and comfortable with fast-paced creative processes.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; additional Indian languages are a plus.

  • Strong research and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask.

  • Working knowledge of video production software (Adobe Creative Suite) and digital tools (e.g. Google Workspace, MS Office, Notion, Miro) 

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in film production, media studies, communications, journalism, design, or a related field.

Compensation

Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by the industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
