About the Job
PubNub is looking for a part-time Corporate Counsel focused on technology transactions! Reporting to the General Counsel, this position (working remotely) will be dynamic in nature with a focus on commercial contracts but with opportunity to contribute across a wide range of legal matters including licensing, legal transactions, compliance, data security, privacy, patents, immigration, international and corporate matters. The right candidate will be resourceful, efficient and able work independently with an extremely high attention to detail to manage a variety of time-sensitive tasks across multiple stakeholders while providing a high level of customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to technology products and services, such as software as a service (SaaS) agreements, partnership or reseller agreements, and technology related commercial transactions
- Provide legal support for a wide array of internal teams including Compliance, IT, Product, Sales, Finance, Marketing and Office of CEO; engage with stakeholders to manage legal elements of product and services evolution and offerings;
- Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the company’s legal processes and including commercial licensing, vendor contracting, consultant contracting and employee-related processes;
- Assist in maintaining compliance around CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, and other privacy regulations.
- Support the Compliance Team in maintaining PubNub’s ISO:27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications to ensure that legal and security standards are continually met and maintained.
What You bring
Minimum Qualifications
- Law degree with strong academic credentials; Bar License Membership in an accredited and recognized local bar.
- Minimum of 8+ years of legal experience in the technology sector, in-house, or law firm.
- Prior experience advising and supporting technology clients, handling technology transactions and licensing; general understanding of software products, software licensing, SaaS services
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously to completion; be able to effectively handle a high-volume of assignments with rapid cycles, concurrent deadlines, and changing priorities with rapid turnaround in a fast paced environment.
Additional Skills
- High and strong attention to detail, ensuring all transactions are handled with accuracy and diligence while producing high quality work products.
- Excellent writing, oral communication, and strong organizational skills; proficiency in drafting and negotiating complex legal documents.
- Support sales teams and external procurement teams to facilitate and close technology deals.
- Self-motivated, independent worker, highly collaborative and able to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new areas of law and adapt to evolving technologies; stays up-to-date on relevant laws and industry standards.
