The Applied R&D Engineer conducts target-oriented research to directly apply findings to the specification, design, further development, and incremental improvement of products, services, systems, tools, processes, etc. Integrates, verifies, tests, and modifies SW / HW / system components and capitalises on innovative solutions to meet particular requirements and specifications.
Responsibilities• Contribute to data plane development and/or transceiver, PHY management for Lightspan family, ensuring it meets required standards.
• Leverage customer feedback to continually refine and enhance product features, ensuring robustness in live deployments.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, product management, and customer support to ensure a seamless development process and timely delivery of features.
• Experience in Layer 1(SerDes, PHY, MAC), IEEE 802.3, CMIS and data plane software/protocols.
• Understanding of network configuration protocols like NetConf and YANG.
• Advanced programming skills in C or C++, with expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and the design and development of complex software systems.
• Familiarity with Broadcom/Marvell chipsets.
• Familiarity with telecom standards and network product lifecycle.
• Troubleshooting and analytical skills to address complex issues in both software and, minimizing product downtime.
• A commitment to maintaining high-quality standards across all stages of the product lifecycle.
