Position Summary:
RSM’s Financial Services practice serves a range of clients in the specialty finance space. On this team, you’ll work with clients in the Specialty Finance industry which includes finance companies in the non-bank lending space, most common are FinTech, installment lenders, auto lenders, merchant cash advance companies, debt buyers, financial technologies/marketplace lenders, buy- here pay-here companies, lease-to-own companies. Our team focuses on tax compliance and tax consulting for some of the most complex and well-known specialty finance companies in the industry.
Responsibilities:
• Provide detail review and analysis of complex Federal corporate tax returns (One source income tax and One source tax provision, ASC 740, CCH Access).
• Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical matter to facilitate communication between the client and the service team, all while managing risk for both the client and the firm
• Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, concerns, etc.
• Develop, motivate, and train staff level and intern team members
• Performing, documenting, and summarizing research and conclusions regarding specific tax issues
• Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional or local accounting firm; or equivalent in industry or with a law firm
• Prior tax compliance & consulting experience serving Asset Management clients
• Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
• Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters of Accounting, Masters of Taxation or MBA.
• Active CPA, EA
• Proven track record managing client engagements from start-to-end
