Join our innovative and dynamic People Technology engineering team as a Staff, Software Engineer. In this role, you will play an important role in developing and implementing digital solutions that solve mission critical business problems in supporting Walmart associates. Your projects will make a significant impact, be scalable, and drive Walmart's modernization efforts in the People Technology organization.

The Enterprise People Technology team supports the successful deployment and adoption of new People technology across the enterprise. People Technology is one of the major segments of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Services, which is invested in building a compact, robust organization that includes service operations and technology solutions for Finance, People, and the Associate Digital Experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design & develop highly scalable services and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology
  • Gain exposure to various emerging technologies used in Marketing and E-commerce platforms.
  • Provide technical direction, architecture leadership and expertise to the team.
  • Lead by example - show your chops as an exceptional and experienced developer.
  • Drive projects of high visibility across the organization.
  • Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project, product and business requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirement); designing robust and scalable architectures; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders;
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery;

What you’ll Bring:

  • Ideally 8+ years of relevant experience in software development, focusing on building large scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in multiple stack technologies – React, IOS, Android, Node.js, Java 
  • Proficiency in API development, Node.js, GQL, 
  • Advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Excellent technical debugging and production support skills.
  • Familiarity with public cloud technologies such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Extensive experience in the design, development, and delivery of software products with a large user base.
  • Track record in an architect role with large-scale software development data-backed services and applications.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to balance conflicting interests in a complex and fast-paced environment.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
