As a Staff HW Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Optical Networks Products & Solutions Engineering HW & Test team. Your expertise in mechanical design will be instrumental in creating cutting-edge telecom products. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team, utilizing your skills to enhance our product portfolio and drive technological advancements.
Responsibilities- Mechanical design of line cards for modular systems, heat sinks, and fixed system chassis (1 to 42RU).
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T principles.
- Work on sheet metal, casting, plastics, and fiber routing using CREO.
- Transfer information between ECAD and other formats (DXF, EMN, EMP).
- Perform hand calculations for forces during line card operations and heat sink mounting.
- Independently interact with Marketing, Design, and Testing teams for reviews.
- Execute mechanical tests, including form-fit-function for first-article inspection.
- Understand operational and non-operational environmental qualifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical design aligns with overall product requirements.
- BE/ BTech/ MTech (Mech) with 8-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in mechanical design for the Telecom domain is a must.
- Expertise in sheet-metal and machining operations, and knowledge of PLM software (Windchill, Agile).
- Ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T.
- Experience with CREO for sheet metal, casting, plastics, and fiber routing.
- Knowledge of ECAD data transfer formats (DXF, EMN, EMP).
- Understanding of operational and non-operational environmental qualifications.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative team player attitude.
- Desirable: Thermal analysis knowledge (Flotherm), EMI-compliant mechanical design, and structural analysis skills (Ansys, LS Dyna).
