CrowdStrike
Sr. Principal Cloud Engineer, NG-SIEM Serverless Platform (Remote, East Coast)
As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day. We have 3.44 PB of RAM deployed across our fleet of C* servers - and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About the Role:
Our mission is to make all of our customers’ security-relevant data continuously available for automated detection and response, threat hunting, and other Falcon use cases. To enable this, the systems behind NG-SIEM are growing to accommodate >100 PB of event and action data ingested every day, up to 10 years of retention, and dozens of millions of queries per hour across large sections of the data stored. As our new NG-SIEM Serverless Platform Principal Cloud Engineer you’ll be responsible to design and build a platform that can deliver this scale to customers and other Falcon modules as a seamless, uniform, “serverless” experience across all their use cases. Over the next years, this will require improving, evolving, and renewing the platform’s control plane and data plane systems, as well as deep data analysis and refine system automation algorithms to optimally operate and balance costs and SLOs.
This role is targeting candidates located on the East Coast of North America, or those willing to work fully within that time zone.
What You'll Do:
-
Evolve and apply the technical vision for getting from 20 to >100 PB/d of event and action log ingestion, while enabling greatly multiplied query intensity over this data set.
-
Lead by example on customer and product focus, as well as on hands-on operational excellence.
-
Deliver key parts of our systems directly as an individual contributor, or as part of a project-focused engineering team.
-
Demonstrate promising approaches to problems or opportunities via proof of concept software, and then secure owner buy-in and funding; ensure teams stay on track during delivery.
-
Move our product mission forward: partner with your peers to develop the NG-SIEM technical and product strategy and roadmap, and own the execution of that roadmap.
-
Engage with principal engineers across CrowdStrike to ensure that we are coherent in our technical strategy across Falcon modules and across the CrowdStrike technical landscape.
-
Your impact is not bounded and you will be enabled to engage and collaborate with various teams and ensure our product’s success. You will work cross functionally with your peers in the product engineering organization as well as with field leaders in sales, customer success, and support.
-
We are a remote first company so you must bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with teams across the globe. You’ll also travel a few times every year to meet with teams and peers.
What You'll Need:
-
12+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining multiple software products/systems/releases, preferably in a SaaS delivery model, across all phases of the development lifecycle, and across multiple software stacks;
-
8+ years of experience as an engineer in a force-multiplying position (delivery through others);
-
3+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer owning a distributed system that handled tens of billions of requests per day or more than 1 PB of data per day;
-
History of significant and continued impact on customer experience and business results;
-
Demonstrated track record of operational excellence when operating services that span many components across several geographical regions;
-
Experience working with and growing strong engineers within remote teams across geographies and cultures;
-
Ability to apply a data science driven approach to large-scale systems engineering;
-
Ability to communicate and articulate crisply at all levels from executive staff to individual contributors.
Bonus Points:
-
3+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer owning a distributed system that handled over 1 trillion requests per day or more than 10 PB of data per day;
-
Solid grounding in the technology of at least one cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP);
-
Experience with hybrid cloud environments;
-
Exposure to/experience with cybersecurity and intelligence;
-
Machine learning and data science familiarity and hands-on experience.
