The SEO Specialist is responsible for executing and implementing comprehensive SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategies to drive organic growth and ensure client success. This role combines hands-on SEO-execution and technical expertise in traditional and AI-powered search, with direct ownership of website operations including CMS management, development coordination and QA to ensure that strategic recommendations are implemented accurately along with efficiently actionable data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Core SEO & GEO Execution

  • Strategy Implementation: Execute on-page and off-page SEO strategies tailored to client goals across e-commerce and generic B2B/B2C sectors.

  • Hands-on Optimization: Optimize web pages (homepages, landing pages, blog posts, product pages) to improve content quality, keyword density, and user experience for higher rankings.

  • Content Creation & Ideation: Perform regular keyword research to develop keyword plans, identify content gaps against competitors, and write high-quality, SEO-optimized content.

  • Internal Linking: Develop and maintain internal linking strategies to improve crawl efficiency, distribute page authority, and strengthen topical clusters across the site.

  • E-E-A-T Optimization: Optimize content for Google’s Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) signals, including author credentials sourcing practices and factual accuracy.

  • GEO Adaptation: Optimize content for AI-powered search engines and generative AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude, etc.).

  • AI Visibility: Implement citation-worthy content tactics to increase brand visibility in AI-generated responses and track brand presence in generative AI answers.

  • Link Building: Manage backlinking processes, execute link-building campaigns, and maintain strict guest post hygiene.

2. Technical & Architecture Management

  • Technical Audits: Conduct regular technical, on-page, and off-page SEO audits on both mobile and desktop versions.

  • Web Architecture: Analyze website architecture and recommend page hierarchy restructuring to improve crawlability and indexation.

  • Schema & Structured Data: Implement and maintain structured data markup (JSON-LD), including FAQ, breadcrumb, product, and organisation schemas, to enhance search visibility and AI citation eligibility.

  • Sitemap & Robots.txt: Manage XML sitemaps and robots.txt files to ensure efficient crawl coverage and indexation control.

  • Redirect & Canonicalisation Management: Audit and manage 301 redirects, canonical tags, and redirect chains to prevent crawl waste and duplicate content issues.

  • Crawl Budget Optimisation: Monitor and optimise crawl budget allocation, particularly for large or complex websites.

  • Dev Collaboration: Collaborate with the web development team to resolve technical website issues, such as page speed optimization, crawl errors, and duplicate content.

  • CMS Management: Work hands-on within Contentful and WordPress to implement on-page optimisations, metadata updates, and structural changes directly without full developer dependency.

  • International & Local SEO: Implement local SEO (Google Business Profile optimization) and international SEO techniques for global websites.

  • Log File Analysis: Perform periodic log file analysis to identify crawl anomalies and validate search engine behaviour on large or high-traffic sites.

3. Web Operations Management

  • Website Change Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between the SEO/marketing function and the development team, translating requirements into clear, actionable briefs and owning the end-to-end delivery of website changes.

  • CMS Operations: Navigate and manage content directly within Contentful and WordPress. This includes publishing and updating pages, configuring metadata, managing redirects, and maintaining content structure. Candidates should be able to  work independently where possible to reduce developer dependency.

  • Development QA: Review and quality-assure all development outputs prior to launch, verifying correct implementation of briefs, SEO integrity (metadata, canonicals, structured data), functional accuracy, and the absence of regressions such as broken links, missing elements, or page speed degradation.

  • Change Request Tracking: Maintain a structured log of website change requests, track implementation status across the development pipeline, and coordinate prioritisation with the development team to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

  • Cross-functional Alignment: Work closely with designers, developers, and content teams to ensure all website changes are aligned with SEO strategy, brand standards, and quality benchmarks.

4. Data, Tools, & Reporting

  • Tool Management: Fully utilize and maintain SEO-related assets and platforms, including Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Ahrefs, Semrush, Keyword Planner, and Screaming Frog.

  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly track, monitor, and analyze key metrics, including organic traffic, keyword rankings, domain authority, conversions, and user engagement metrics.

  • Competitive Analysis: Perform ongoing competitive analysis to benchmark performance and uncover new growth opportunities.

  • Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive monthly performance reports with actionable insights for internal stakeholders and clients.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: 3–5 years of dedicated SEO experience, with a proven track record of executing successful organic growth campaigns.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on proficiency in technical SEO, site architecture, algorithm updates, and full-scale website audits.

  • AI Search Knowledge: Working knowledge or strong familiarity with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) principles and tracking visibility on AI platforms, along with awareness of emerging GEO monitoring tools.

  • Tool Proficiency: Advanced expertise in essential SEO and analytics tools, specifically Semrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, GA4, and Screaming Frog.

  • CMS & Web Operations: Hands-on experience with Contentful and WordPress, with sufficient technical understanding to manage CMS-level changes independently, brief development teams accurately, and QA implementations for SEO correctness, functional accuracy, and absence of regressions. A working knowledge of HTML and CSS is required.

  • Execution & Workflow: Self-motivated with the ability to manage deliverables for multiple client accounts simultaneously while maintaining high quality assurance. With proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Monday.com, Jira, Notion)

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear performance reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
