The Applied R&D Engineer conducts research and develops software for fiber access technologies. Collaborates with R&D and product teams, ensuring solutions meet specifications and customer feedback.
The Applied R&D Engineer conducts target-oriented research to directly apply findings to the specification, design, further development, and incremental improvement of products, services, systems, tools, processes, etc. Integrates, verifies, tests, and modifies SW / HW / system components and capitalises on innovative solutions to meet particular requirements and specifications.

- Gain in-depth knowledge of Fiber Transport and fixed access network technologies, particularly GPON and XGPON.
- Design and develop high-quality software for OLT products, improving the functionality and performance of fiber access systems.
- Learn to integrate real-world customer feedback into product features, ensuring solutions meet market demands.
- Collaborate closely with R&D teams and product management to deliver innovative solutions, enhancing teamwork and communication skills.
- Develop expertise in Layer 2 forwarding, multicast, and QoS protocols (IGMP, PPPoE, 802.1x) to build advanced networking solutions.
- Hone troubleshooting and analytical skills for resolving complex issues within fiber access and telecom software.
- Enhance skills in adapting to and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative software development environment.
- Develop leadership abilities by guiding project teams and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure high-quality product delivery.
You Have:
- Graduate or Postgraduate in Engineering stream between 8-20 years of experience in the telecom broadband access domain, particularly in Fiber Transport and Layer 2 protocols.
- Proficiency in languages like C/C++, Java, Go, and JavaScript, enabling effective software development and testing.
- Experience with Optical Line Terminals (OLT) and fiber access technologies such as GPON and XGPON, including platform software and device drivers.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and perform software development lifecycle tasks efficiently.
- Experience in leading and guiding software development teams or mentoring junior engineers to success.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Understanding of Layer 2 protocols, including IGMP, PPPoE, and 802.1x, with hands-on experience.
- Solid understanding of the software testing lifecycle, with the ability to develop and execute rigorous test cases for network products.
