On-site resident engineer to administer, monitor, and support Dell EMC storage (PowerMax, PowerScale, PowerFlex, ECS, Data Domain/CRS), manage SAN/Ethernet fabric, support VMware environments, monitor backups/replication, perform capacity planning, and lead DR activities and incident escalations.
We are seeking an experienced Resident Storage & Backup Engineer to be based on-site at our client's premises, responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring, and support of enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise across the Dell EMC storage portfolio — including PowerMax, Data Domain, PowerScale, ECS, and PowerFlex — along with strong VMware virtualization knowledge and solid understanding of SAN/Ethernet fabric networking. This is a critical infrastructure role ensuring data availability, performance, and resilience for the client's environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and support Dell EMC PowerMax 8500 & 2500 storage arrays, ensuring optimal performance, capacity planning, and availability.
- Manage and maintain Data Domain and Cyber Recovery Solution (CRS) environments, including backup job monitoring, troubleshooting, and isolated recovery vault operations.
- Administer PowerScale (scale-out NAS) environments, including cluster health monitoring, capacity management, and performance tuning.
- Support and maintain ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage) object storage infrastructure.
- Administer PowerFlex software-defined infrastructure, including deployment, scaling, and performance optimization.
- Provide hands-on support for VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, Aria (formerly vRealize), VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), NSX-T, vRealize Automation (vRA), and vRealize Orchestrator (vRO).
- Manage and troubleshoot SAN and Ethernet fabric connectivity, zoning, and performance across the storage environment.
- Support VDI environments (Citrix) with a focus on storage performance and backend infrastructure health.
- Monitor daily backup and replication jobs, proactively identifying and resolving failures within SLA windows.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management across all storage platforms.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, virtualization, network, and security teams to ensure integrated, resilient IT operations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
- Act as the primary on-site point of contact for storage and backup-related incidents, escalations, and change requests.
