Gynger is the agentic credit risk function for tech CFOs - unlocking embedded financing at the speed and scale of tech.
We're a cash flow management platform with embedded financing that gives B2B technology vendors the power to offer flexible payment terms to customers while securing upfront payment. Finance leaders use Gynger to combine actionable insights with capital, optimizing day to day cash flow, accelerating deal cycles, mitigating risk, and executing on long term strategy.
We're building the rails that financed tech B2B deals will run on. Our AI agents sit inside the credit and risk function, embedded directly in the sale, giving buyers buy-now-pay-later flexibility on their technology purchases while vendors get paid upfront.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in NYC, Gynger has raised $20M in Series A funding with investment from Gradient Ventures, Velvet Sea, BAG Ventures, MXV Capital and others.
For the third year running, Gynger has been recognized as one of Built In's Best Places to Work 2026.
We're building the AI-native infrastructure for tech financing, and we're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who builds with AI, not just around it.
You'll help architect and develop the agentic systems that run our credit risk function — underwriting, risk monitoring, collections, and payments — as complete processes an agent can carry from start to finish, rather than a single feature layered on top of a workflow. You'll work across the stack, with particular depth on the backend: scalable APIs, thoughtful data architecture, and services built to support real financial workflows. You'll also help shape how we build, bringing modern AI-assisted development practices into our everyday work and helping our engineering standards evolve alongside the tools themselves.
This is a role for someone who wants a hand in shaping the product, the architecture, and the way the team works, not just executing what's already been decided.
What You'll Do
Design and build production systems from the ground up, including scalable backend services, internal and external APIs, and data models that support complex financial workflows.
Take full-stack features from concept through architecture, front-end implementation, backend logic, and deployment.
Build and extend AI agent-powered workflows that carry out our credit risk operations, from underwriting and risk monitoring to collections and payments.
Use modern AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot) as a natural part of how you build.
Contribute to evolving our engineering practices and standards, including code review norms, architecture patterns, and how we integrate AI tooling into our workflow.
Participate in code reviews and offer thoughtful, constructive feedback.
Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, designers, and product managers to solve complex problems and build products people genuinely enjoy using.
Bring a spirit of experimentation to your work, while caring about the quality of what reaches production.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional experience working with TypeScript (React on the front-end, Node.js on the back-end).
- Preferred - experience as a tech lead or team lead, particularly if you grew into that role as a founding or early engineer who helped build something from the ground up.
Demonstrated strength on the backend, including designing scalable APIs, databases, and system architecture.
A track record of building full applications from scratch — modular, full-stack systems, not just features within an existing framework.
Experience releasing and operating applications in a cloud environment like GCP or AWS.
Hands-on, everyday fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
A history of helping teams improve their practices and standards, beyond simply completing assigned work.
Strong ownership mentality and comfort working in a fast-moving, category-creating startup environment.
Experience in FinTech, SaaS B2B, or agentic software for B2B, especially with credit, risk, or payments systems.
Experience building AI agent-based systems that take autonomous action, rather than generating content or summaries.
Experience working with backend policies, data flows, and complex business logic.
