Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for an experienced Network / Data Center Engineer to join the Trading Systems Infrastructure team (SysTrade) in India. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our network and data center infrastructure, which operates in some of the fastest and most demanding environments in the world.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing network infrastructure in data centers and possess a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced in high-frequency trading. A strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working with financial exchanges such as the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and a deep understanding of exchange connectivity, market data, and low-latency trading environments. Responsibilities:
- Optimize network infrastructure for low-latency and high-performance trading environments
- Deploy, configure, and maintain networking hardware (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, optics/SFPs) within data centers to ensure minimal latency and maximum uptime
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, ensuring quick resolution to minimize impact on trading operations
- Manage circuits and cross-connect installations, working with carriers/telcos for new circuit deployments and troubleshooting connectivity issues
- Oversee data center infrastructure, including racks, structured cabling, power circuits, PDUs, cooling, and cross-connects, ensuring efficient racking, stacking, cabling, and power distribution for new and existing hardware
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures for network and data center operations
- Automate network and infrastructure management tasks using scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Lead incident response efforts in the event of network failures, ensuring minimal disruption to trading activities
- Collaborate with traders, developers, and system engineers to optimize exchange connectivity and trading infrastructure
Qualifications:
- Experience working in data centers, including hardware deployment, racking, cabling, and environmental monitoring
- Proven experience with network configuration and management in low-latency environments
- Hands-on experience with networking technologies (e.g., Cisco, Arista, Juniper) and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, multicast)
- Familiarity with ultra-low-latency networking, including tuning, packet capture analysis, and jitter reduction techniques
- Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible) for network administration is preferred
- Strong knowledge of financial exchange connectivity, market data feeds, and colocation environments
- Experience with India Financial Exchanges such as NSE and BSE is preferred, and additional working experience with other Asia Exchanges will be a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
