Develop Android and Fire TV applications plus scalable Go or Java backend services for subscriptions, payments, in-app purchases, and entitlement workflows. Design REST APIs, microservices, distributed transaction processing, and resilient systems supporting millions of users and traffic spikes. Optimize performance, implement monitoring and observability, troubleshoot production issues, and collaborate across engineering and product teams.
We are looking for experienced Full Stack Engineers with Android and backend expertise in Go or Java to work on large-scale systems.
The role will be part of the Subscriptions and Payments engineering team and will contribute to building and enhancing Fire TV In-App Purchase (IAP) capabilities, subscription journeys, payment integrations and entitlement workflows.
You will work across Android/Fire TV applications and backend services, building highly scalable and reliable systems capable of supporting millions of users and significant traffic spikes during major live events.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and maintain Android / Fire TV applications and supporting backend services.
- Build Android features using Kotlin/Java with a focus on performance, reliability and user experience.
- Develop scalable backend services using Go or Java.
- Build and integrate APIs supporting subscriptions, payments and entitlement workflows.
- Implement Fire TV In-App Purchase (IAP) flows including purchases, renewals, cancellations and entitlement synchronization.
- Integrate applications with app-store APIs, payment platforms and internal backend services.
- Build resilient workflows capable of handling failures, retries and transaction reconciliation.
- Design systems to support high concurrency and large traffic spikes, particularly during live sports and major content releases.
- Optimize application startup, API latency, network usage and overall performance.
- Work on authentication, device management and user-session flows where required.
- Implement monitoring, logging and observability across mobile/TV and backend systems.
- Write maintainable, well-tested production code.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical design reviews.
- Collaborate with Android, backend, platform, payments and product teams to deliver features end-to-end.
Requirements
- Strong Android development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.
- Good understanding of Android application architecture, lifecycle and performance optimization.
- Experience developing applications for Android TV or Fire TV is highly desirable.
- Strong backend development experience using Go or Java.
- Experience with Spring Boot for Java backend development or common Go web/service frameworks.
- Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Good understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL.
- Experience with NoSQL databases is desirable.
- Experience with caching technologies such as Redis.
- Exposure to Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming technologies.
- Understanding of asynchronous processing, concurrency and distributed transactions.
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills.
- 4-7 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on Android development experience.
- Hands-on experience with backend development using Go or Java.
- Ability to independently own and deliver features across application and backend layers.
- Experience working on scalable production applications.
