As a Backend Software Engineer, you will join the Data Flow Team, a highly autonomous and experienced group integral to the core functionality of the Nexthink product. The team is responsible for integrating and enriching massive volumes of endpoint data, transforming it into actionable insights.
You will have full, end-to-end ownership of the components you build-from requirements and design through implementation, validation, and deployment. Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in software development
- Enterprise Java: Excellent Java skills and a deep understanding of the JVM ecosystem
- Concurrency Engineering: Advanced understanding of multithreading, thread-safety, and concurrent data structures for high-throughput environments.
- Frameworks: Expertise with production-grade Java frameworks like Spring Boot or Micronaut for building robust microservices.
- Scalable Architecture: Proven experience architecting and operating resilient and scalable microservices in a cloud environment, utilizing:
- APIs (e.g., RESTful, event-driven).
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm).
- High-throughput messaging architecture (e.g., Kafka).
- Cloud & Operations: Practical experience building and running services on public cloud providers, preferably AWS, including monitoring, alerting, and operational best practices.
- Data Persistence: Expertise in designing, optimizing, and operating high-volume data persistence layers. This requires
- Relational Database: Advanced schema design, complex query optimization, and operation of systems like Postgres.
- Distributed Data Stores: Practical knowledge of NoSQL concepts (e.g., key-value, document stores) and proficiency in utilizing distributed stores for low-latency, high-throughput applications.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Desirable Pluses:
- Practical experience with modern DevOps practices and GitOps workflows (e.g., using FluxCD) where the team manages infrastructure as code
- Working knowledge of high-performance analytical databases, specifically ClickHouse
- Proficiency with observability and monitoring tools such as DataDog (or Prometheus/Grafana) for production troubleshooting and optimization
