Senior Ab‑Initio Developer – Enterprise Data Integration & Performance Optimization
Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior Ab‑Initio Developer to lead the design, development, and support of enterprise-grade data integration solutions. This role involves direct ownership of end-to-end ETL workflows within highly regulated environments, such as banking or financial services. You will leverage your deep Ab‑Initio expertise and analytical skills to deliver scalable, high-performance data processing solutions that meet strict compliance standards, business requirements, and performance benchmarks. Your contributions will support Synechron’s strategic initiative to enable reliable data management and operational excellence for clients.
Software Requirements
Required:
Extensive hands-on experience with Ab‑Initio (GDE, Co>Operating System, Metadata Hub/EME) (7+ years)
Strong expertise in GDE (Graphical Development Environment) for designing and building data workflows
Proficiency in Co>Operating System for job execution, scheduling, and automation
Deep understanding of Metadata Hub (EME) and metadata management
Experience with parallel processing, partitioning, and performance tuning of large-scale workflows
Strong SQL skills and data analysis capability for data validation and reconciliation
Experience working within highly regulated environments, with an understanding of compliance standards
Solid knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and release management processes
Preferred:
Knowledge of cloud deployment and migration of Ab‑Initio workflows (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Shell scripting) for automation
Experience with data governance tools and enterprise data management standards
Overall Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Ab‑Initio ETL applications supporting large-scale enterprise data platforms
Build, optimize, and support batch and real-time data processing pipelines with high efficiency and low latency
Translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable workflows and data models
Perform performance analysis, tuning, debugging, and optimization of graph components and workflows
Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with enterprise data governance policies
Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, QA teams, and operational units to deliver integrated data solutions
Lead code reviews, document workflows and metadata, and promote adherence to best practices in development standards
Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions promptly
Stay informed of industry best practices, regulatory guidelines, and technological advances impacting data integration

Programming Languages (Essential):
Ab‑Initio (Graphical Development Environment) for workflow design and development
SQL for data validation and management
Preferred:
Scripting languages: Python, Shell scripting for automation tasks
Data Management & Integration:
Expertise in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes within Ab‑Initio workflows
Data validation, reconciliation, and metadata management using Ab‑Initio Metadata Hub (EME)
Databases & Platforms:
Oracle, SQL Server, or compatible relational databases
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure) for hybrid or cloud migration projects
Tools & Infrastructure:
Version control: Git or similar
Workflow scheduling and automation tools in enterprise environments
Monitoring tools like JFR, JMC, or Prometheus (preferred)
Standards & Regulatory Knowledge:
Data security and privacy standards (GDPR, PCI-DSS, etc.)
Enterprise data governance standards and compliance frameworks
Experience Requirements
Minimum 7+ years of experience in Ab‑Initio development for enterprise data systems
Proven expertise in designing, building, and supporting large-scale ETL workflows
Strong experience in data reconciliation, validation, and metadata management
Knowledge of regulated environments such as banking or finance (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and optimize workflows
Experience working within Agile teams and delivering solutions in a fast-paced environment
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop and enhance Ab‑Initio workflows for batch and streaming data processing
Conduct performance profiling and tuning of workflows, graphs, and components
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues impacting data pipelines
Collaborate with business analysts and data teams to refine requirements and improve workflows
Document workflows, metadata, and process flows for operational and compliance needs
Participate in sprint planning, review meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support migration, deployment, and upgrade activities for large data environments
Monitor data quality metrics, perform data validation, and implement process improvements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
7+ years of hands-on Ab‑Initio development experience in enterprise environments
Deep understanding of high-volume, high-performance data integration and processing
Industry certifications related to Ab‑Initio or data management are advantageous
