Job Purpose: RMC Plant Engineer ensure smooth operations of the Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) plant by managing production, quality control, equipment maintenance, and resource planning. The role is responsible for producing high-quality concrete in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations, while coordinating with stakeholders to achieve efficiency, cost optimization, and customer satisfaction.
ResponsibilitiesQuality Control & Assurance:
Ensure that RMC produced meets required standards, project specifications, and IS codes. Conduct regular testing of fresh and hardened concrete to verify strength, durability, and performance. Develop and validate concrete mix designs as per site/project requirements. Monitor and approve raw materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures, additives, water) through physical and chemical testing.
Plant Operations & Production:
Oversee daily batching, mixing, and dispatch of concrete from the plant. Ensure batching plant calibration in coordination with the Mechanical & Quality teams. Maintain adherence to approved batch reports and quality documents. Align production with project guidelines and STRAP requirements.
Raw Material Management:
Plan and schedule raw material requirements in advance for continuous operations. Conduct pre-moisture content checks of aggregates and ensure accurate batching. Manage raw material approvals, including lab trials and source approvals through internal and external testing agencies. Ensure consistent quality between trial mixes and plant production.
Testing & Inspection:
Perform lab trials for new material sources, maintain trial documentation, and align plant production accordingly. Conduct periodic raw material testing for aggregates, cement, and admixtures. Record and analyze test results, highlighting deviations for corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, quality deviations, or raw material issues. Optimize process flows to reduce wastage, downtime, and costs. Drive standardization of processes, simplification of reports, and automation where feasible.
Stakeholder Management:
Liaise with project teams and customers to understand concrete grade requirements. Provide technical support on concrete applications, mix designs, and site performance. Ensure timely dispatch of RMC to project sites as per demand.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards at the plant and during dispatch. Maintain compliance with statutory requirements and industry codes of practice. Conduct regular safety audits and awareness sessions for staff.
