Job Overview: 

As a Red Hat Ceph Storage Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the organization's Red Hat Ceph Storage environment, ensuring its optimal performance, and integrating it into the company's overall IT infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with teams across the organization to deliver high-quality storage solutions that support the organization's data needs. 

Responsibilities: 

Ceph Storage Environment Management: Design, implement, manage, and maintain the organization's Red Hat Ceph Storage environment. This includes installation, configuration, and upgrades. 

Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor the performance of the Ceph environment and optimize it based on monitoring data to ensure high availability and minimal downtime. 

Capacity Planning: Regularly analyze storage utilization and forecast future storage needs. Plan and execute capacity additions in a timely manner. 

Troubleshooting & Support: Identify and resolve technical issues related to the Ceph environment. Coordinate with IT support teams, end users, and vendors as needed. 

Security & Compliance: Implement and manage security controls to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data stored in the Ceph environment. Comply with internal policies and external regulations related to data storage and management. 

Documentation & Reporting: Document all system configurations, procedures, and changes. Prepare regular reports on system performance, availability, and compliance. 

Integration: Integrate the Ceph storage system with other systems and platforms, including cloud services, databases, and application servers. 

Training & Mentoring: Train and mentor other IT staff in the management and use of the Red Hat Ceph Storage system. 

Requirements: 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ceph Storage Administration are highly desirable. 

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years of experience in managing Ceph storage environments or similar distributed storage systems. 

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Red Hat Ceph Storage and its underlying technologies. Familiarity with Linux system administration, shell scripting, networking, and security. Knowledge of other storage technologies and data management principles is a plus. 

Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Physical Requirements: Depending on the specific role and location, this may involve working in a Data Center environment and handling heavy equipment. 

Other: Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and to travel, as needed.
