GoDaddy’s Cloud Platforms team is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to help lead and accelerate our cloud transformation journey. This is a unique opportunity to shape the cloud platform that underpins GoDaddy’s core services and empowers developers across the company. As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll architect and build platform technologies that thousands of GoDaddy engineers rely on daily to support millions of small businesses around the world. What you'll get to do...
- Design, build, and evolve scalable, secure, and observable cloud-native systems operating across thousands of AWS accounts, leveraging distributed and serverless architectures.
- Own architectural decisions and define platform standards for data ingestion, metadata modeling, cross-account access, and service integration.
- Drive cloud governance best practices, including IAM design, networking, security guardrails, and cost optimization.
- Write production-quality code, lead by example, and mentor engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and raising technical standards.
- Collaborate with global teams and lead multi-quarter initiatives from design to delivery, ensuring long-term platform reliability and operability.
Your experience should include...
- 8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience, with proven ownership and operation of complex production systems.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS, including multi-account environment design, IAM roles, secure cross-account access, VPC networking, and security.
- Strong experience designing distributed systems at scale and working with cloud-native architectures (microservices, event-driven, serverless).
- Proficient in one or more backend languages (Python preferred, Java, Go, or Node.js), with strong system design, data modeling, performance, and reliability fundamentals.
- Experience leading technical design reviews and cross-team initiatives, with a focus on observability, reliability, and cost-effective solutions.
You might also have...
- Kubernetes (EKS) or container platform experience in production.
- Experience with metadata platforms, data pipelines, or observability systems.
- Experience applying AI or automation to developer productivity or operational workflows.
- Familiarity with services such as AWS Config, CloudWatch, EventBridge, Kafka, DynamoDB, OpenSearch.
- Experience building internal platforms or shared infrastructure.
