About the Role:

We're on the lookout for a Performance Marketing Specialist for our Marketing team.

In this role you'll join a dynamic team that believes in pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo, and embracing diversity of thought.

What You'll Do:

  • Strategy & Implementation: Develop and execute effective performance marketing strategies across multiple channels. Manage the creation of lookalike audiences from cohorts of our user base. Coordinate with internal teams to decide the messaging for ads based on conversations with stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis & Audience Mapping: An essential part of the role involves understanding the user journey and mapping the right events for optimisation on ad platforms to get the best ROI. For eg, mapping a user engagement event on D0 with the ‘Start Trial’ event on Facebook. This task requires the ability to analyze user engagement / retention data and strategically align it with similar behaviors or events on advertising platforms. This process helps us to create highly relevant and targeted advertising campaigns, improving the overall efficiency of our marketing spend and contributing to higher user retention. The candidate needs a strong understanding of user behavior analytics, data-driven marketing strategies, and the workings of digital advertising platforms to fulfill this responsibility effectively.
  • Ad Copy & Design: Work with ChatGPT to draft ad copies and collaborate with the in-house graphic design and video editing team for the production of video-based ads. Ensure that the ads align with our brand voice - funny, witty, sassy, esoteric, and hypothetical.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor the effectiveness of campaigns in conjunction with the cost per D1 retained user to ensure quality as a function of cost and retention. Create excel dashboards integrated with Adjust, which is in turn connected with Facebook & Google. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of any campaign issues, and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Product Strategy & Optimization: Leverage a deep understanding of marketing funnels to provide strategic insights on product development. Identify opportunities for funnel optimization from acquisition to activation, thereby contributing to overall user growth and retention. This could include suggesting enhancements to in-app UI/UX for better user engagement and devising new features or interactive elements within the app to boost activation.

Who You Are:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in performance marketing, preferably within the tech startup space or digital media industry.
  • Proven track record of creating and executing successful performance marketing strategies for digital only mobile apps (no ecommerce).
  • Experience with digital ad platforms such as Meta, Google and Tiktok is required.
  • Strong data analysis skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to interpret user behavior data, align it with business goals, and translate it into actionable product improvements.
  • This vital role requires a balance of acute analytical sense with creative problem-solving and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the product team, and management stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with performance marketing tools such as Adjust. Familiarity with analytics tools like Mixpanel will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of CPI and retention metrics.
  • Experience in working with AI tools for copywriting (such as ChatGPT) would be a plus.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with an ability to think out-of-the-box and under tight deadlines.
  • A degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field would be advantageous

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have proven experience running performance marketing campaigns for consumer apps. Bonus points if done so in North America.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading performance marketing campaigns across various platforms like Meta, Google, Tiktok among others
  • They will create and implement strategies for audience targeting, monitor cost-per-install (CPI) and cost per Day 1 (CPRD1) retained user, manage the creation of ad copies with the aid of AI tools like ChatGPT, copy.ai etc, and supervise the design of video ads
  • The ideal candidate would be an engineer/math freak turned marketing professional - someone who can apply engineering problem-solving skills to nail the art of performance marketing
  • We’re looking for a Doer and not a Manager
