The role involves strategizing Singapore's digital interests at international levels, developing partnerships, and engaging in negotiations regarding digital agreements.
[What the role is]
The Digital Economy is a key driver of economic growth for Singapore. Along with the economic promise of digitalisation come domestic and global challenges. International collaboration and driving government-to-government cooperation to enable interoperability of digital systems and governance frameworks has become increasingly important.You would be a key member of inter-agency processes driving Singapore's digital interests for markets in North and Latin America, Europe, and at International Organisations including the UN, OECD, WTO, and others. You would also support and engage in whole-of-government work and negotiations on Digital Economy Agreements, Free Trade Agreements, as well as international cooperation for horizontal issues including but not limited to cross-border data flows, AI, and emerging technologies.
[What you will be working on]
Responsibilities
- Strategise and advocate for Singapore's positions at regional/international organisations
- Develop and execute plans to build strategic partnerships with local and international partners
- Assess and advance Singapore's positions in bilateral and multilateral agreements on digital matters
- Organise bilateral visits as well as international events and projects, including coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, sourcing for vendors and preparing discussion points
- Independently research and prepare briefing papers on countries and international organisations of strategic interest
[What we are looking for]
Requirements
- Background in Political Science/Economics/Law/History/Engineering/Computer Science or relevant areas of study
- 4-8 years of relevant working experience, preferably with exposure to international relations and/or government policy formulation
- Interest in international relations, infocomm technologies, media, and emerging technology trends
- Project management skills (manage budgets, timelines, scopes, and work allocation)
- Communication skills (Good grasp of English, proficiency in a second language is a bonus)
- Other Skills: presentations, problem-solving, analytical, writing, negotiations, networking
