Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly capable Lead QA Automation Engineer to oversee the automation testing team and ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions. In this leadership role, you will design, develop, and implement scalable test automation frameworks, mentor team members, and collaborate closely with development and project teams to improve testing processes. Your expertise will enhance product quality, streamline testing activities, and support continuous integration and delivery within a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
Software Requirements
Required: Selenium WebDriver (latest stable version), TestNG, Maven, Jenkins, Git, SQL (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle), automation scripting (Java, Python), JIRA, Confluence
Preferred: CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitLab CI), Performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling), Test automation frameworks (Cucumber, Rest Assured), monitoring tools (Splunk, ELK Stack, Nagios)
Experience level: 5+ years leading QA automation efforts in enterprise settings
Overall Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks for functional, regression, and performance testing
Guide and mentor QA team members on best practices, testing strategies, and tool usage
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and operations teams to develop comprehensive test plans and automation scripts
Implement scalable and reliable test automation workflows integrated into CI/CD pipelines
Conduct root cause analysis on automation failures and ensure timely resolution of defects
Continuously evaluate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies for process improvement
Document test cases, frameworks, and operational procedures for ongoing support and knowledge sharing
Support manual testing when necessary and ensure thorough validation of releases
Technical Skills (By Category)
Programming Languages:
Essential: Java (latest version), Python (preferred), test scripting languages
Preferred: Groovy, Bash scripting for build and environment setup
Databases/Data Management:
SQL: MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle; data validation, query optimization, and data reconciliation workflows
Cloud Technologies:
Basic understanding of deploying and supporting automation in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) (preferred)
Frameworks and Libraries:
Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Cucumber, REST Assured, JMeter, Gatling, CI/CD integrations, monitoring SDKs
Development Tools & Methodologies:
Git, Jenkins, Maven, Docker, Kubernetes, Agile/Scrum, TDD/BDD practices
Security & Protocols:
Implementation of secure API testing, encryption standards, security best practices for automation
Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience leading QA automation initiatives in enterprise environments
Proven track record designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks for web, API, and performance testing
Strong leadership skills in mentoring teams and managing multiple testing projects
Hands-on experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or Azure DevOps
Knowledge of databases and data validation techniques for largescale applications
Industry experience in finance, banking, fintech, or enterprise sectors preferred; extensive experience in automation in regulated environments is advantageous
Day-to-Day Activities
Oversee automation script development for functional, regression, and performance testing
Support continuous integration workflows and ensure automation runs reliably in build pipelines
Troubleshoot and resolve automation failures, issues, and bottlenecks
Lead review sessions, retrospectives, and planning meetings for automation enhancements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and implement automation solutions
Conduct root cause analysis for defects, system failures, and performance issues
Maintain comprehensive documentation of test plans, frameworks, and defect reports
Support manual testing activities where automation is not feasible, ensuring full test coverage
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
5+ years of experience in QA automation, with a focus on enterprise applications and API testing
Certifications in automation tools or industry standards (e.g., ISTQB, Selenium, Jenkins) preferred
Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
Proven ability to lead teams, guide best practices, and coordinate across departments
Capability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced enterprise environment
