Role Summary

The Release Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing product releases and deployments across customer and internal environments. This role ensures that builds are packaged, validated, and deployed in a repeatable, controlled, and auditable way, minimizing risk to production while enabling frequent, high‑quality releases for Majesco products.

You will work closely with Engineering, Cloud/Infra, Product Management, QA, and Customer Success/Support teams to manage release calendars, automate deployment pipelines, and drive continuous improvement in release efficiency, stability, and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

Release Planning & Coordination

  • Coordinate with Engineering, QA, Product, and Support to confirm scope, dependencies, and readiness for each release.
  • Conduct release readiness reviews (scope, risks, rollback, approvals) before deployment.
  • Maintain clear release notes, deployment plans, and checklists for all releases.

Build, Packaging & Configuration

  • Manage build and packaging of application components, services, and configuration artefacts from source control.
  • Ensure correct versioning, tagging, and labelling of builds across environments.
  • Maintain and apply environment‑specific configuration (properties, secrets, integration endpoints) following security and compliance guidelines.
  • Validate that schema changes, configuration changes, and data migration steps are captured and rehearsed before production deployment.

Deployment Execution & Automation

  • Execute deployments across DEV, QA, UAT, Pre‑Prod, and Production environments following approved runbooks and change procedures.
  • Managing stakeholders and external interfaces, coordination and communication within the team and with customers
  • Use and enhance CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) for automated build and deployment.
  • Implement and maintain deployment scripts, Helm charts, or infrastructure‑as‑code templates (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform/ARM where applicable).
  • Perform pre‑deployment and post‑deployment checks, validating application health, jobs, and integrations.
  • Ensure well‑defined rollback/backup procedures are in place and tested for critical releases.

Governance, Compliance & Change Management

  • Adhere to change management and approval workflows (e.g., SNOW/Jira change tickets) for all production changes.
  • Maintain accurate records of deployments, versions, and change requests for auditability.
  • Enforce segregation of duties, access controls, and release gates as per Majesco policies and client requirements.
  • Contribute to and maintain standard release & deployment documentation, templates, and checklists.

Monitoring, Issue Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor deployments in real time (logs, dashboards, alerts) in partnership with Infra/Support teams.
  • Coordinate incident response for deployment‑related issues, including impact assessment, communication, and fix/rollback decision.
  • Perform post‑release reviews (PIRs), capturing root causes and action items for failed or degraded releases.
  • Identify and drive automation and process improvements to reduce deployment effort, cycle time, and defects.
  • Provide environment and release status updates to stakeholders (internal and customer‑facing, as needed).
  • Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline), Selecting and deploying appropriate CI/CD tools
  • Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management

Required Skills & Experience

  • Total Experience: 6 – 8 years (for mid‑level engineer) in Release Management, DevOps, Build & Deployment, or Application Operations roles.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with at least one CI/CD tool: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
