Jira Technical Architect
Pune/Noida/Bangalore/Chennai, India
Position Summary:
As a Jira Technical Architect, you will lead the architecture, integration, and configuration of advanced Jira solutions, including custom development using Script Runner with Groovy. This role is critical in defining the technical roadmap, ensuring architectural best practices, and ensuring seamless delivery of integrated solutions within the Jira ecosystem. You will collaborate with developers, product teams, and team members to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with organisational needs.
You will report to the Engineering Manager - IT, and work in a hybrid capacity from our Pune/Bangalore/Noida/Chennai, India office.
Your Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the technical architecture for Jira-integrated solutions, including custom Script Runner development.
- Provide technical oversight and governance across the full development lifecycle: planning, design, implementation, and support.
- Stay current with Atlassian ecosystem updates, tools, and APIs.
- Lead Atlassian migrations to Jira Cloud, including assessment, execution, data validation, and post‑migration stabilisation.
- Manage installation, configuration, and lifecycle of Marketplace apps and custom Forge apps.
· Define Forge development standards for Jira Cloud, covering modular architecture, permissions, triggers, and API usage.
- Configure advanced Jira features: custom fields, workflows, screens, permissions, issue types, automation, and notifications.
- Guide development teams on Groovy scripting, app architecture, and data visualisation within Jira.
- Ensure compliance with Atlassian performance, security, and deployment standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Jira functionality, marketplace app behaviour, and system integrations.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and configuration playbooks.
- Help communication between partners and technical teams, translating our needs into Jira-based solutions.
- Project manages the entire development process.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior Jira administrators, encouraging skill growth, consistency in platform governance.
The Essentials – You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8–10 years of IT experience with a focus on Jira administration and technical architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of Jira Cloud, Script Runner, Groovy, and Atlassian REST APIs.
- Hands‑on experience designing and supporting Jira Cloud integrations with enterprise applications.
- 3+ years of experience building Jira Cloud solutions using Atlassian Forge.
- Experience designing and implementing large-scale Jira solutions.
- 3+ years of experience with Jira performance tuning, scalability planning, and high availability deployments.
- Proficient in change management, release planning, and version control (e.g., Git).
- Experience approaching a problem from different angles, analysing pros and cons of different solutions.
The Preferred – You Might Also Have:
- Atlassian certifications such as ACP-120 (Jira Administration for Cloud).
- Experience with other Atlassian tools (Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud migrations and Jira Cloud limitations/benefits.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments.
