Java Engineering Manager

What's the role?
In this role you will innovate work with multiple teams and services to build our industry-leading map. You will collaborate with an energetic and dedicated team that works on cutting-edge technology to create tools and services. You will work with researchers, developers, architects and IT to develop, deploy, and maintain applications in multiple environments. You will define the long-term engineering strategy, aligning it with the organization's goals, and driving its execution. In addition you will:

• Work with Engineering Managers with their services to build, develop and deploy next generation services for map building.
• Create roadmaps for the attributes that will be coded using your services
• As a technical leader and an effective people manager you can hold your own in a technical discussion, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence.
• Collaborate with Internal and external customer and stakeholders for understanding the Business processes and solution implementations for the acceptance criteria.
• Perform Technical architectural design and review.
• Spend time and effort hiring top talent, coaching and developing people to bring out best.
• Follow a documented software development process and be accountable for conformance to software quality standards.
• Work collaboratively with other engineering teams to ensure cross-functional goals are met.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and reviews.
• Participate in cross-team strategy discussions within the team
• Enable the team to execute high-velocity software development, support their needs and resolve possibleconflicts
• Communicate with leadership regarding progress against plans, issues, and needs.
• Lead the team to follow organizational standards engineering best practice

Who are you?
You are an Engineering Manager with passion for innovation and technology. Further you have the following:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Over 15 years of work experience in software engineering including 3+ years of technical leadership and people management experience
• Working with multiple engineering teams across departments
• Strong experience in backend application development - Java or functional programming language, like Scala.
• Practical experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers Cloud Experience (AWS/Azure/IBM/Oracle)
• Solid knowledge of design patterns and engineering best practices
• Experience in development of Service oriented architecture, Spring framework and web services
• Experience in data structures and algorithmsInfrastructure experience: Maven/SBT, GIT/GERRIT, Apache Spark, Amazon Web Services, Jenkins, Linux Environment
• Experience building REST web service clients and servers.
• Experience of persistence with relational and NoSQL data stores.

In this role you will part of the Association Team within Platform & Technology division. This team is responsible for map matching of map features. This takes into account where a feature is posted and where on road this feature is actually applicable. Also this team does logical grouping of sign features, coding of map divider attributes and improving the quality of speed limits coded on map.
