JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Intern, Claims will assist with tasks such as performing routine claims data updates. Additional duties may include best practice and regulatory compliance audits, compliance research utilizing the applicable regulatory website, and creating/modifying Excel spreadsheets to assist in identifying data trends. This position’s objective is to provide support to the claims staff.

This is a full-time summer internship and will require someone who can work at least 40 hours per week.  Start and end dates will be based on availability and business need.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Update data on claim files.
  • Conduct best practice and regulatory compliance audits.
  • Conduct compliance research utilizing the applicable regulatory website.
  • Communicate with internal staff and claimants, as needed.
  • Issue correspondence.
  • Assist with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Assist with research.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:  

  • Nonessential function: other duties as assigned.
     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.  
  • Preference may be given to those pursuing a degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a paperless environment.
