About the Project: To assist the National AIDS Control Program achieve 95 – 95 – 95 targets, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) along with US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) India has been entrusted the responsibility of improving lifesaving HIV treatment activities, enhancing HIV case finding and providing critical HIV services in PEPFAR geographies in India. One such initiative is Project Sashakt implemented by PATH, which supports the National and State AIDS Control Program in Northeast (Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram). For more: www.path.org/india

Internship Duration: 3 months initial with extension to 6 months based on performance and availability of funds

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development of a scientific manuscript on one priority topic as decided by the reporting manager

  • Conduct literature review and synthesis of national/global evidence.
  • Support data extraction, cleaning, and initial analysis from the project data sets.
  • Draft manuscript sections (introduction, methods, results, discussion, references) under guidance from PATH technical experts.
  • Support submission processes to CDC and PATH for internal reviews.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist HIV program staff in reviewing service delivery data from facility and community settings.
  • Support design and updating of dashboards/visualizations for HIV screening and linkage data.
  • Contribute to development of technical briefs, case studies, and best-practice documentation.
  • Draft meeting notes, presentations, and periodic progress reports for internal teams and government counterparts (CDC/NACO/SACS).
  • Assist in planning and coordination of training, consultations, and field visits related to HIV service strengthening.
  • Conduct desk research on HIV testing algorithms, differentiated service delivery, and innovations in case finding.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Medicine, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Management, Social Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Strong interest in HIV prevention, testing, and treatment programs.
  • Excellent writing skills, especially for academic/scientific documents.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, R, Stata, Python) is an advantage.
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews and synthesize information clearly.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
