- Canada Asset Management & Individual Insurance & Investments (ISS) team is in search of a collaborative Senior Software Engineer with the ability to deliver the analysis, solution design, development, and implementation of projects; who is an effective communicator who will utilize their technical/business knowledge to lead technical discussions with project development teams, business sponsors, and external technical partners in a manner that ensures understanding of risks, options, and overall solutions; who has the ability to effectively consult/support technical discussions with peers and Business Sponsors ensuring alignment to both technology and business visions; who is a collaborative team member who continuously strives to improve the client experience, our team, and our processes; and who keeps current with trends in emerging technologies and how they could apply to Sun Life.

- 8+ years’ progressive information technology experience with full application development life cycle and systems integration experience
- Excellent working knowledge of the IBM OS/390 mainframe environment
- Experience and understanding of TSO/ISPF, DB2, IMS, JCL and other mainframe utilities
- Working knowledge of the Cobol / PLI and SAS development languages
- Understanding of MQ Series and other middleware technologies
- Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, Ansible and CDD

- Graduate of BS Computer Science or other IT equivalent course
- Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience
- Knowledge of Insurance and Wealth Investments Financial Service industries

- Keen appetite for learning relevant technologies and for continuous self-improvement
- Willing to work on mid-shift schedule

- Perform health checks of existing systems to identify if technology changes are required to remain current
- Create/update living documentation for current design and participate in peer reviews
- Key participant in providing estimates and identifying key stakeholders
