Open Position: Staff Accountant (s)
MAQ Software (an IT software consultancy) and our associated group entities are expanding our presence in NOIDA. In addition to our software work, we are expanding our social impact across many districts of Uttar Pradesh (UP). We are a group of optimists working to build a strong nation through our business and our social impact initiatives.
We are looking to expand our accounting team to drive various initiatives across three sectors:
- Support our software engineering center in NOIDA in Sector 145 (100% Export Oriented Unit)
- Running 105 computer labs in government aided schools in 21 UP districts for low-income students to teach Mathematics online. Presently, we provide digital access to over 150,000 students. In 2024, we plan to serve 250,000 students at 200 schools in ~25 UP districts.
- Set up super specialty eye hospital to eliminate needless blindness, provide large volume, high quality, and affordable care.

Job Description:
We are looking for three Staff Accountants to support our accounts, administration and compliance team to comply with the local laws and regulations.
In this role, you will be working on a variety of tasks to support our private limited companies, LLP, and charitable trusts. This is a great learning opportunity due to a variety of tasks and company types.
Your responsibilities will include:
Payroll Support:
- Provide monthly attendance and salary information to external payroll processing company
- Review and compare payroll information received from payroll provider for accuracy and tax compliance.
- Review TDS, rent allowance, and other deductions from salaries.
- Address any payroll-related issues and discrepancies for employees and consultants.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll tax laws.
Bookkeeping:
- Review and maintain bank transactions in online accounting systems
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly.
- Generate income, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Generate and analyze financial reports for management review.
Accounts Payable/ Accounts Receivable:
- Review and pay vendor invoices after accounting for GST and TDS
- Issue purchase orders using Zoho accounting system
- Enter scanned copies of the invoice and supporting documents in cloud-based accounting system
- Review tax refunds and other payments from customers for aging
- Follow up with customers to collect the payments.
Tax Compliance:
- File monthly and annual GST returns for various companies.
- Review income tax returns prepared by our external accountants.
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with external tax consultants.
- Submit quarterly and annual FCRA reports
Audit Support:
- Facilitate external audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain a system of checks and balances to ensure internal controls.
Expense Management:
- Monitor and control expenses to ensure they align with budgetary constraints.
- Review and approve employee expense reports.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Provide insights into financial performance trends.
- Assist in evaluating the financial impact of business initiatives.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments to obtain necessary financial information.
- Communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
- Participate in cross-functional teams for process improvement.
Candidate Profile:
This is a great opportunity for candidates interested in learning a wide variety of accounting functions and organizations in multiple states.
Qualifications should include:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a semi qualified CA.
- Professional CA certification is preferred.
- First Class throughout in 10th, 12th and college.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Tally), preferably in Zoho.
Experience: Minimum experience of 2 years. We prefer candidates that have worked for the Big 5 accounting firms.
Compensation: Our annual salary range is three lakhs to five lakhs per annum with standard employee benefits. Our department works six days per week to ensure fast turnaround.
