About the teamThe Data Threat Detection team is the core engineering team responsible for Rubrik’s mission to secure the world’s data. We operate at the intersection of massive-scale distributed systems and advanced cybersecurity. While traditional security tools focus on the perimeter, our team builds the "Last Line of Defense"—a unified security platform designed to detect, and analyze sophisticated threats.
Our work powers the Rubrik Security Cloud, specifically the Threat Monitoring and Threat Hunt product suites. We are responsible for architecting the software that scans petabytes of data to identify Indicators of Compromise, mapping the "blast radius" of ransomware attacks, and ensuring that our customers can recover their business operations with 100% confidence in the integrity of their data.
About the roleYou are someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a track record of technical expertise and management responsibility. You will be responsible for driving your team to work closely across multiple engineering areas. As we drive forward for the success of our customers you will hold the team accountable to achieve goals of engineering excellence and product value. You will partner with various stakeholders to shape the roadmap as well as drive innovation and continuous improvement.
You will be in high demand and this role requires a strong leader who brings empathy and creates engagement while holding the line of high quality, frequent product releases. Provide enough structure to bring about prioritization of work that has the biggest impact for Rubrik’s customers while allowing flexibility, empowerment of teams to deliver beyond our customers’ expectations.
- Lead engineering team to build the next set of Data threat detection products.
- Provide technical guidance to the team to solve complex challenges.
- Derive and drive the roadmap with key stakeholders
- You’ll diagnose and resolve obstacles that prevent your team from delivering quality software
- You’ll champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement, customer first focus and excellence
- You are a first principles thinker who can help the team tackle complex technical problems
- You distill complex and ambiguous situations into actionable plans for your team
- You represent the customers’ perspectives, you plan for how they will be impacted by the services you build, and you always work to enable their success
- Lead and grow a team of passionate engineers that are part of a larger team in India
- Provide support and guidance that enables the team to self-organize and to achieve sustained high velocity and predictability
- Help employees grow through career development, coaching, and mentoring
- You'll provide a clear path for progression for the team through personal development plans, defining goals, performing evaluations, and collaborating with employees on their objectives
- BS CS/EE or equivalent with 8+ years of industry experience, of which 1+ years is in Engineering Management; MS or PhD is a plus
- Experience with SaaS enterprise software development built and delivered on any of AWS or Azure or GCP
- Experience with distributed systems, availability, performance optimization and cost management of a SaaS platform
- Experience hiring and developing teams within an existing organization to work side-by-side with other teams
- Developing team identity, empowering direct reports and building career growth options for your team
- Experience working directly with customers and vendors
- Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes.
