The DevOps II engineer will enhance cloud infrastructure, manage CI/CD pipelines, automate systems, and ensure security and compliance in AWS environments.
DevOps II ____________________________________________________________________________
The Opportunity:
The Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and improving our infrastructure across cloud environments (primarily AWS). The role requires an in-depth understanding of cloud-native services, automation tools, CI/CD pipeline management, security best practices, and troubleshooting web-based services. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for continuous improvement and a focus on automation, enabling the DevOps team to operate efficiently and maintain highly reliable systems while empowering development teams to release faster without compromising application stability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering: Architect, implement, maintain, and optimize highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS, including services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and Amazon EKS, while ensuring secure networking, high performance, and reliable system operations.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, manage, and maintain scalable and reproducible cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK, enabling automated provisioning, configuration management, and predictable infrastructure deployments.
- CI/CD & Automation: Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Argo CD, Jenkins, or CircleCI to automate build, testing, and deployment processes across multiple technology stacks including Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Python, PHP, and .NET.
- Containerization & Kubernetes: Manage and operate containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (primarily Amazon EKS), ensuring efficient orchestration, scalability, and high availability of microservices-based applications.
- Monitoring, Logging & Reliability: Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack to ensure system observability, performance optimization, and rapid incident detection and resolution.
- Security & Compliance: Implement cloud security best practices including IAM policies, encryption, network segmentation, and security group management, while performing regular audits to maintain compliance with organizational and industry security standards.
- Database Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize Amazon RDS database infrastructure including performance tuning, scaling strategies, backup policies, and high-availability configurations for production workloads.
- Networking & Edge Security: Configure and administer Cloudflare to enhance network security, DDoS protection, performance optimization, and global content delivery.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with development, product, and operations teams to improve infrastructure reliability and deployment processes while maintaining clear and comprehensive documentation for architecture, operational procedures, and infrastructure configurations.
Job Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles with strong exposure to cloud infrastructure, automation, and operational support.
- AWS Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch with a solid understanding of scalable and secure cloud architecture.
- Kubernetes & Containers: Proven experience deploying and managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, preferably on Amazon EKS.
- Infrastructure as Code: Demonstrated experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Argo CD, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
- Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating infrastructure tasks and operational workflows.
- Database Management: Practical experience managing relational databases such as Amazon RDS including monitoring, performance tuning, and backup strategies.
- Networking & Security: Strong understanding of networking concepts including routing, subnetting, security groups, network ACLs, and cloud security best practices.
- Monitoring & Observability: Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
