Summary: The Morningstar DBRS Editorial and Publishing team is looking for a Designer in its Mumbai office to help with the design and production of rating reports, research, and other publications. The work will be PC based and will require advanced knowledge of the Adobe suite and Microsoft Office. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, high technical proficiency, a can-do attitude, strong communication skills, creativity, and conceptual thinking.
Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with analysts and editors (in-person and remotely), laying out and formatting documents for publication.
  • Conduct creative workshops and training seminars for analysts and editors to help inform the direction of publishing initiatives and workflows. Discuss and clarify production, formatting, and proofing requirements; ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Create and update engaging graphics, including organizational charts, maps, and flow charts.
  • Actively participate in style and design meetings, providing regular updates and addressing challenges as they arise. Review and update templates and production art as required.
  • Manage the preparation and production of large electronic documents; create, edit, and export PDFs from InDesign book files.
  • Complete a thorough peer review of final documents for publication, ensuring accuracy and completeness.


Requirements

  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in desktop publishing, document layout/proofreading or the production of other communications materials.
  • A curious self-starter who isn't afraid of ambiguity and is eager to find problems and solve them.
  • Can take projects from start to finish, owning the creative and production execution.
  • Able to bring energy to a global team and is comfortable with a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent design, color, and typography skills and eager to master complex information, and able to simplify it so that it is clear and relatable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent proofreading abilities.
  • Digitally savvy with a proven mastery of the latest versions of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to provide relevant samples of work via portfolio and/or website.
