Database Administrator and Initiative Lead

To stabilise and optimise the database environment by introducing redundancy, automation, and access control measures that reduce downtime and improve platform performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct assessment and design for high availability and redundancy within the SQL Server environment

• Automate critical database maintenance operations including indexing, patching, and backups

• Identify applications causing strain on the database and recommend architectural redesigns

• Audit and remediate direct external access to production databases

• Work with development, architecture, and security teams to ensure compliance and performance

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related

• Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred (e.g., MCSA, MCSE)

Years of Experience:

• 5+ years in DBA roles within enterprise environments

Other requirements:

• Expertise in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions

• Familiarity with data governance, auditing, and secure access controls

• Experience with automation tools like PowerShell, SQL Agent Jobs, or Azure Automation

• Proficient in SQL performance tuning and root cause analysis
