Objectives/Purpose

  • Partners with the data stakeholders to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data by ensuring it complies with Global Data Governance policies, standards, structure, strategy, and principles. They ensure the data is effectively utilized as trusted enterprise assets - which leads to understood, controlled and reliable data.
  • Proactively analyze & communicate data inconsistencies with Data Stewards and create visibility to gaps and opportunities in the global data governance framework.
  • Operationalize agreed upon data governance policies and practices to ensure increase in stakeholder data trust across domains


Accountabilities

  • Leadership role responsible for providing strategic management for Analytics Access & Protection Management and Data Governance best practices globally.
  • This role will be responsible for transitioning the organization's data access model to a more fine-grained, domain-specific approach while ensuring strict adherence to data privacy, security, and audit requirements. This role will collaborate closely with data domain stakeholders, IT security, Privacy teams, and internal audit to develop and maintain efficient, scalable data governance practices that align with regulatory standards and internal policies. This role is essential to ensuring that the organization's data domain governance framework supports business needs while maintaining compliance and safeguarding sensitive data.
  • The role will be accountable for safeguarding company data, IP, people, customers, shareholders, and brand by implementing processes that ensure that the right people have the right access at the right time. They will support the Enterprise Data Governance operating model by directing, motivating, and developing an appropriately skilled team of resources and implementing optimized processes and tools that comply with business and regulatory requirements.
  • The successful applicant will be familiar with Data Governance industry best practices and will have experience working within a diverse and highly federated environment, will have excellent interpersonal skills, will be confident when dealing with Senior leadership and will have a track record of managing globally located teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Data Access - Oversee the transition from a broad access model to one that is domain-specific, ensuring access is granted based on detailed levels, including data domains and regional considerations. Promote efficient methods for data discoverability, enabling users to find and access data within the boundaries of the new access model while maintaining ease of use and governance standards. Lead engagement with data domain stakeholders to understand their access needs and provide guidance and support in adopting the new access model. Continuously review and improve access management processes to ensure efficiency, scalability, and risk mitigation. Ensure access management practices are well-documented and adhered to, aligning with internal governance policies
  • Data Privacy Classification - Ensure that sensitive data is appropriately categorized and managed with strict access controls to protect data privacy and security as defined by IT Security and Global Privacy teams. Following the Domain construct, build and maintain a data privacy compliance roadmap (?), ensuring all practices align with internal and external regulations. Establish effective communication strategies to raise awareness of the data privacy classification policy across the organization.
  • Data Anonymization - Implement policies and controls for data anonymization, ensuring that all processes adhere to data privacy policies and requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that data anonymization practices are seamlessly integrated into day-to-day operations. Continuously evaluate and enhance anonymization procedures to meet evolving regulatory requirements and business needs.
  • Data Audit - Serve as the primary point of contact for Group Internal Audit regarding data management audit preparations, reviews, and remediation and tracking. Identify and address potential risks related to data access and security, escalating issues as necessary to prevent negative impacts. Provide regular status updates on audit preparations and deliverables, ensuring timelines are met. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data access management and report on progress, highlighting the effectiveness of the access management strategy.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Life Sciences, Business or related subject matter, and an Advanced Degree in Business Administration, or Relevant IT or Science Degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Pharma Ethics & Compliance desired
  • Industry certifications and hands on experience with Data Governance best practices as outlined in DMBoK, a plus


Experience:

  • 7+ years experience in Global Technology functions and Business
  • 5+ years of Access Management work experience, in-depth experience in Pharmaceutical or other heavily regulated industry Skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and must be able to successfully lead business needs analysis.
  • Must have proven leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to data privacy and access (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
