Overview

Data Catalog Lead will own the implementation, maintenance, and integration of the organization's enterprise data catalog solution to support enterprise and business unit initiatives within information technology and key data governance teams. The lead will define and maintain a cohesive and effective data cataloging system that is a key solution to the company's broader data governance strategy and objectives. The lead will engage key stakeholders to enhance data catalog features and functionality to leverage the enterprise data catalog to solve business problems related to data governance topics.

Responsibilities

- Ensure effective delivery of value for data catalog solution by facilitating simplified user experience and a robust, accurate and comprehensive data catalog.

- Leverage emerging AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology for data catalog solution to simplify and automate the existing manual tasks for end users to curate, classify and tag metadata assets that are searchable and easily queried by end users.

- Partner with key stakeholders to catalog end to end lineage as data moves through key systems, databases, and integration solutions. 

- Identify and implement custom lineage in data catalog as needed if standard functionality in data catalog does not deliver required data lineage.

- Configure and maintain enterprise data catalog solution for the organization by ensuring that its functionalities and benefits are fully leveraged across different business units.

- Partner with data governance teams and stakeholders to monitor compliance with data governance policies and procedures.

- Develop and publish metrics for metadata completeness and data catalog usage, fostering its wider adoption.

- Serve as a subject matter expert for data catalog, create training materials and educate users as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor’s degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
Typically requires 8 or more years of experience in technologies relevant to data governance, data/information management, data quality assurance, data analysis and/or metadata management.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:


Expertise with data catalog, data profiling and data lineage.
Experience implementing solutions and processes for leveraging APIs to integrate catalog metadata between other systems or solutions.
Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its application for improving meta-data cataloging to assign tag or identifications to specific data objects or assets. 
Broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards.
Experience in leading small project teams and streams.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions. 
Knowledge of logical data architecture.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology or any other related discipline or equivalent related experience.

• SAS Statistical Business Analyst Professional Certification

WORK EXPERIENCE:
6+ years of directly-related or relevant experience, preferably in healthcare data analytics or data engineering.
