R&D unit in KTI is responsible for developing digital services at KONE. It’s the development engine for our Digital Services such as KONE 24/7 Connected Services,  Office Flow and Partnership Ecosystem.

We are looking for a Technical Lead – Connectivity Operations Specialist to manage the connectivity operations of IoT and connected devices across the globe. This role involves working closely with global telecom providers, managing device connectivity, and integrating devices with AWS and Azure cloud services. The ideal candidate should have technical expertise in cloud services, telecom network technologies, and the ability to ensure smooth device operations while controlling costs.

Our landscape is quite interesting and large scale, punctuated with key technology areas such as IoT, Cloud, machine learning, big data, artificial intelligence etc., to name a few. We will continue to expand our product portfolio at scale. Role description:

  • Support the operations in the connectivity domain, to improve the visibility of the connectivity consumption (Data, Voice & SMS), establish practices to optimize the consumption.
  • Collaborate with telecom providers to ensure Kone’s product & compliance requirements in the context of connectivity
  • Oversee SIM/eSIM management, activation, and device lifecycle operations globally
  • Troubleshoot and identify potential connectivity issues on the product portfolio. Contribute towards providing visibility on them and actions towards improvements
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure proper device provisioning, monitoring, and OTA updates
  • Manage connectivity with local and global telecom providers to optimize costs and services
  • Support operational activities, monitor connectivity performance, and ensure high availability
  • Analyze connectivity usage, manage budgets, and provide insights to optimize cost control
  • Implement automation tools/scripts to streamline connectivity operations and reduce manual tasks
  • Ensure security and compliance for device communication with the cloud.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing IoT device connectivity with AWS and Azure cloud services.
  • Strong knowledge of telecom network technologies (LTE, 5G, NB-IoT) and working with global telecom providers.
  • Experience with scripting (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation and monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and operational costs related to connectivity services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and provide technical guidance and support to developers in the team
  • Nice to have - Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP) and network troubleshooting
