Purpose

To support the Communications team in planning and executing strategic communication activities across institutional and programme communications. This includes media outreach and engagement, media monitoring and analysis, content development, trend mapping, partnership communication, and support for thought leadership and stakeholder engagement.

CEEW invites applications from budding communications professionals with prior experience in public relations, media outreach, strategic communications, and stakeholder coordination, who have a keen interest in communications in the public policy sector. The candidate should be solution-oriented, detail-oriented and committed to adhering to timelines. 

In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.

Deliverables and Responsibilities 

  • Support the Communications Specialist in executing the outlined strategy for CEEW’s media outreach and do quarterly analysis to measure performance and identify newer avenues towards achieving the goal and tweaks required in the approach.

  • Identify and engage with journalists in India and internationally to secure interview opportunities for CEEW experts, and facilitate the placement of case studies, feature stories, and other high-impact editorial coverage on the organisation's work. 

  • Support in developing communication material for strategic partnerships, programme engagements, and media opportunities, including drafting media pitches, briefing notes, key messages, talking points, background material, social media content, partnership announcements, and communication material for speaking engagements, meetings, roundtables, and other strategic engagements.

  • Support the communications specialist in exploring, evaluating and converting partnership opportunities. 

  • Drive the coordination of media queries received from the agency or directly end-to-end. 

  • Support the communications specialist in facilitating trainings for leadership and internal teams.

  • Support the design and implementation of AI-enabled workflows using CEEW-approved tools, including leveraging AI for sentiment monitoring, analysis, and issue flagging across social media platforms. 

  • Support in maintaining media databases, creating new databases, and proofreading and editing key documents.

  • Keeping track of the trends in the sector to explore opportunities for TV, event speakership and podcast opportunities. 

  • Coordinate communication activities with internal programme teams and external partners.

Selection Criteria

  • Master's/Bachelor's degree in development communications, journalism, PR or related disciplines. Someone with a background in liberal arts, but experience in a communications role could also apply. 

  • 2-3 years of experience as a journalist or in public relations, media outreach, and strategic coverage analysis

Work experience and other skills

  • A proactive, solution-oriented attitude. 

  • Prior experience in secondary research, stakeholder coordination, and communication support.

  • Excellent communication skills — spoken and written English and Hindi (preferred) language skills

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively

  • Ability to adhere to (and manage multiple) timelines

  • Experience in the energy sector/development sector (desirable but not essential)

  • Familiar with AI-based tools for communication (desirable but not essential)

Compensation

Competitive compensation – commensurate with the experience and matching the best standards adopted by the industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
