Business Analyst

The Commercial Data Warehouse (CDW) Business Analyst will play a key role in gathering requirements, defining data models, and supporting the development and enhancement of commercial analytics platforms. The ideal candidate understands commercial pharma datasets, data workflows, reporting needs, and can translate business requirements into technical specifications for data engineering and BI teams.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with commercial, sales, marketing, and analytics teams to understand business objectives and translate them into data warehouse requirements.
• Lead requirement gathering, documentation, user story creation, use-case definition, and acceptance criteria for CDW initiatives.
• Analyze commercial data sources such as IQVIA, Symphony, Veeva CRM, D&B, specialty pharmacy (SP) data, HUB data, claims data, and customer master data.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to define data models, data transformations, integration logic, and quality checks.
• Support end‑to‑end data pipeline design for ingestion, harmonization, modeling, and reporting.
• Perform data validation, profiling, and UAT to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business rules.
• Maintain documentation including BRDs, FRDs, data dictionaries, mapping documents, and process flows.
• Work with BI/reporting teams to help design intuitive dashboards and analytics solutions.
• Troubleshoot data issues, identify root causes, and coordinate with technical teams for fixes.
• Support stakeholder management, communication, project planning, and sprint ceremonies in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–8 years of experience as a Business Analyst in commercial data platforms, data warehousing, or analytics environments.
• Strong understanding of pharma/biotech commercial data landscape (IQVIA Xponent/LRx/OA, APLD, SPC, DDD, claims datasets etc.).
• Hands-on experience writing SQL to validate and profile datasets.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT workflows, and data modeling (Star/Snowflake Schema).
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, or GCP BigQuery).
• Ability to convert business processes into data requirements and functional specifications.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional business and technical teams.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, backlog management, user stories, and JAD/requirements workshops.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pharma commercial operations, field force effectiveness, SFE dashboards, targeting, segmentation, or incentive compensation.
• Exposure to Veeva CRM, Veeva Nitro, or Veeva Data Cloud.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik).
• Experience supporting large-scale data migration or modernization initiatives.
