Astute Payroll by Deel is looking for a talented and motivated PHP Backend Engineer to join our team and provide support for our backend systems.
As a PHP Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving the PHP-based backend services for a SaaS payroll application.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal skills, an understanding of design patterns and experience with query optimisation in relational databases.
This role will present many opportunites for further career growth, and opportunities to work on other projects using Node and React in the future.
Required Qualifications:

University degree or equivalent in IT discipline

Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or Zend
-
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly
-
Experience in debugging, performance tuning, and identifying system bottlenecks
-
Good understanding of RESTful APIs and web services
-
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience with AWS - Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker

Understanding of automated testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes

Knowledge of security best practices in backend development
